Much like in the other forums, just rate the latest movie you've seen, elaborate on your opinion of said film, and ... yeah. I assume people still watch movies, no? I'll start. Knowing or Nicholas Cage VS. The Sun, Place Your Bets Now!8/10 It was an okay film. The plot twist at the end was kinda ridiculous though. Me and three strangers literally facepalmed at it. But I think it was everything to lead up to that revelation that made the film worth watching. It was exciting and riveting. Overall, it was an okay film. There you go, give it a try. (disclaimer: you don't have to add an alternative title below, I just do that for sh!ts and giggles)

Children of Men - 7/10 Positive: Some good ideas, a good portrayal of modern-day Britain, Clive Owen's inability to portray anything other than an apathetic, couldn't-give-a-**** loser actually works somewhat considering that was the character's actual personality, interesting cinematrography, good music. Negative: Clive Owen is a giant vagina, heavy liberal sermoning, main plot wasn't really very interesting, characters were flat. _________________

Yeah, Knowing was kind of...interesting. The end really was a facepalm kind of moment. I felt bad for yelling "awesome" at the scene with the plane, though, considering that it was sort of catastrophic._________________ | Quote: | [4:37:26 PM] mOiSt VoN hApPyTuNe says: Men can't suffer domestic abuse [4:37:35 PM] BL says: lunar can |

Observe and Report - 8/10 Pretty amusing, shorter then I actually expected (not even an hour and a half...), ending is total WTF? worthy and in ways burned into my mind >_< and I lost count of how many times "F" was used...I think I lost count at a thousand...

Transformers - 8/10 The ending was a load of crap to me. It's off setting when you see the main boss of a series get killed off in a shameful way. That's mainly my only problem with it.

Marley & Me: 9/10 I really adored this movie. It hit just the right tone; it managed to evoke a lot of feelings, and stay very real, especially as the movie progresses. Not mentioning spoilers, but I did cry twice in this movie, and by the end I was completely bawling. Wonderful movie, very satisfied by it.

The Grudge 2 5/10 Bad sequel. Okay movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar is the only known actress in the movie and the star of the first one. Only she dies right at the beginning, oh dear. That fall from the top of a tall mental hospital building where you get chased by little girls with greasy hair and white dresses must have hurt a tad.

Dragonball Evolution: From a fan's view - 6/10 What the hell was that crap? It uh looked colorful and had some nice effects. You'll get some good laughs out of it because it is so terrible (which is the reason why it got a 6 not anything lower). Fight scenes were lackluster and the final scene was very anticlimactic. The location of Master Roshi's house is pretty nice. From a movie goer's view - 4/10 That **** was awful. The plot was short and the only character that seemed to develop was Goku. Piccolo was a disaster, fight scenes weren't anything to look forward to, and there was a definite lack of information. Also the scene in the middle of the credits was stupid. Observe and Report: 5/10 Definitely Seth Rogen's worst movie yet. It was not an enjoyable ride and a majority of the "good" jokes were already used in the trailer. Even though the movie was so bad and watching it is not that fun it is all worth it for the final chase scene. I would have paid my $10 just for that scene. _________________

The Soloist 8/10 It being one of those movies destined to be an award winner at some point whether I see it or not, I decided to give it a look ... it should win something. It was a pretty good film. The use of classic music is very calming and lovely. I especially liked the part where the two guys go to a classic music concert and they close their eyes and WE see a bunch of colors moving to the music. I'm thinking "I could just look at a screen saver and get the same results" but it worked and I kinda liked it. My only complaint is that the ending kidna confused me. What was the message? Don't help out your friend who is homeless and has schizophrenia because he's happy with it? ... I guess.

| Lakeview Terrace - 8/10 It's got a simple premise - a couple move into a posh detached house and their single parent neighbour doesn't like them. Then it throws colour in to the mix - the couple are mixed race and the single parent is none other than Samuel L Jackson. As a drama, it can be quite tense in places, something which becomes more frequent as the film progresses and tempers begin to fray, but there are some scenes I found quite... pointless, or badly executed. As for the acting, the couple put in a good turn, but naturally, big Sam steals the show as the nasty veteran cop who moonlights as a single parent. Overall, I quite enjoyed it, if only because there is nobody who does 'righteous nasty' better than Jackson. _________________ "I could be worse... For example, I could be dead." | Ok I saw a lot this week so let's get started: The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard 7/10 It was actually pretty funny. Kinda like Talledega Nights funny, but with f bombs (Yeah I know it's from the same people). It's pretty much like a Will Ferrel movie but staring that guy from Entourage, and that's ok. And, surprise, Will Ferrel DOES make an appearance in what I think is ... sigh, the funniest moment in the entire movie. This proves he's still funny, but in small doses (Step Brothers kinda ruined him for me). I can't think of anything nasty to say about this film. You know what you're getting into. ~ It Might Get Loud 8/10 It's a documentary for three rockers, their history, their love of the electric guitar, and what music means to them. Staring Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin (dressed as Beethoven), Zack White from the White Stripes (in the movie, I thought he was being played by Johnny Depp) and the guitarist known as The Edge from U2 (... nothing here, he looks ok). It's a pretty interesting film, showing them discuss how music can get them through the incredibly rough lives they've gone through. It can drag on for a bit when they're just listening to music they like and what it means to them. For a regular viewer, I would rate it lower, but I'm a rocker and I loved it. ~ Paper Heart OR Michael Cera is a Stalker!7/10 This movie was ok. It's kinda hard to describe. It's about this chick, Charlyne Yi (that one pot smoking chick from Knocked Up), who goes across the country to "define what love means". The idea isn't bad, it's interesting, abstract, and worth looking into. She does this by going to random people and asking about their love lives and stuff. I like the parts where they tell their stories and they show reenactments of these events with paper dolls and cheap backgrounds. It's quirky and fun. Then Charlyne runs into Michael Cera (skinny dorky kid from Superbad, Juno, Year One, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and whatever other movie he plays a skinny dorky kid) and they fall for eachother and blah blah. That's kinda where the movie get's weird, cuss it's not so much a documentary anymore. Not even sure if it was. Apparently those parts are fictional versions of themselves, to poke fun at the rumors that they were together. It's hybrid documentary, sort of a mocumentary. I didn't know that, hence, it was a little confusing. I thought Cera actually was stalking her for that one day. Oh well, they were pretty convincing. And the movie itself is pretty funny in that "aww" sort of way. |

Adam 7/10 No, not the 1980 film depicting the events during the kidnapping of host of America's Most Wanted son. No, this is a different Adam. It's about some guy with Asperger syndrome and a quirky girl who he falls for. The character Adam himself is pretty likable. Due to his illness, he's incredibly anti social, he can't comprehend why people say things they don't mean and in turn is brutally honest. Sometimes, it's f***ing hilarious. Whoever plays him did a good job. My only complain would be I didn't like the girl that much. She's cute and all, but kinda a bitch. She knows what his disability does to him and often times she treats him like he's a typical guy. Now, I'm not saying she should give him special treatment but, c'mon, cut the guy some slack. Most of the time when she's furious with him, it's over NOTHING. It's probably due to the subplot about her father being indited or something, but that's still no excuse to loose it and say "F*** Aspergers. You're just a f***ing child." all because he found out you told a little white lie which to him is a big deal. That was the line. It wasn't drama, it was just stupid. "Yeah, f*** your special form of autism, which causes lack social skills and basically makes you act like a child, you're just a f***ing child ... f*** you." Oh well, despite that, I still think the film was ok. Not great or groundbreaking, but worth the look. And the ending is cute enough to get a passable grade.
