I can't get past this point. I was trying to attain an Amano feel. Not quite sure I did.

My only hang up is the cape. I'm torn on whether or not to leave it plain or add something to it. Kind of balances the detail of his body though. Hmmm. Tell me what you think. Suggestions?

I redid his face and shredded his cape. I also gave it some impossible folds. He is a god. I guess. I like it much more now.

This is just my experience, but it seems like maybe you can't get past that point because you started in the middle.

It's best to start small. Sketch out a rough idea of what you might want. That way, if you don't like it, or have to move something, it's easier. The best thing you can do for a drawing is to start it with a sketch, so you can refine it at that point. Once you get a part just the way you want it, you feel like you can't change it or move it, even if you have to for the drawing to be successful.

Personally I don't know what the style you're speaking of is, but I think that you should probably try building it up from the beginning. Work on all parts of the image at the same time and build it up equally. That way, it will all come together in the end!

It looks like you definitely have the potential to make it beautiful, though! Keep trying! It looks great so far!

Technically, I started at the top. I like to work downwards. It works best for me actually. Thank you for your in put though. And another big thank you for the compliment. :3

Before I even read your post, it looked Amano-like. Seems a little stiff though, even for a character design. I think one of the main parts of Amano art is that the art looks very fluid and lively, even if the characters are standing still. I dunno how else to put it though. Also, imo the cape should at least have a design because it looks half-finished with the contrast between the incredible detail on the face and torso and the plain cape. Good job though.

I re-re-edited it. I couldn't think of a design for his cape, so I tried to add more detail with folds and nonsense.

Much, much better. Just shredding the cape makes it look amazing.
