Alright, I own a Jackson Flying V RX10D Rhoads Black model. I've had it for years now and I love it. But the problem is...

Why the hell does it go out of tune when I use the Whammy bar? I've always had my locks ON (Which I hear is suppose to prevent it from going out of tune) so I really don't get it.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by having the locks on, but the tuners might suck.

It's in between the head and the first fret. Those are certain locks used to prevent the guitar from going out of tune when I use the Whammy bar.

Or there could be something wrong with the bridge.

...

You have locks in place of a nut?

...

Interesting.

I see what you mean now and quite frankly that's an interesting choice on Jackson's behalf. Have you tried using it without the locks engaged? Cause my piece-of-**** squire strat doesn't go out of tune when I whammy it and it has a standard plastic nut. If it's not that, then maybe it is the bridge...

Do your strings get sharper or flatter after you use the whammy bar?

Squier Strats are actually reputed to go out of tune pretty quick if you use the whammy bar much, I'm pretty sure.

If it goes out of tune, like, immediately, you do have a problem. If it just gets out of tune faster than it should, that's probably a relatively normal consequence of using the whammy bar a lot.

But it depends on how much the whammy bar is used, all of the above is if you use it quite a lot. If you don't use it very much, then there's definitely something odd.

Yeah Ryke is correct, the second I use my whammy bar, it goes out of tune. Every time I push the whammy bar down, it goes flatter. Every time I pull it up, it goes sharper.

I've been looking around and it could be the strings that are the problem. I haven't changed them In a really damn long time and I forgot what strings I even USE.

So I either need to get the right kind of strings or the bridge could be the main problem.

You can pull your whammy bar up? Huh. Anyway, it might be that the strings aren't getting locked properly, and using the whammy bar is making them slide in the locks a bit and when you return the bridge to the original position, the strings have slightly more/less string on the fret-side of the nut.

But that's just a guess.
