---Story---

The game takes place in the city of Kasaku, and Shizuka Kaigan High School. A popular and well-funded school, students with means or scholarships travel from all over the country to attend, as graduation from Shizuka Kaigan means almost certain acceptance into any choice of the top universities.

Though tuition is certainly a concern, housing expenses for those not native to Kasaku are an even bigger concern. Dreamtime, headquartered in Kasaku, has made a generous donation to Shizuka Kaigan and has constructed a small dorm where students who are willing to participate in one of their sleep studies can live for free, if they meet Dreamtime's specifications.

If accepted into the study, students living at the dorm will be required to use a simple machine every night that will record their brainwaves, an attempt to get a deeper understanding of the effects of school stresses on the quality of a student's sleep.

The story starts on Sunday April 3rd, just two days before the school year. Here, the dorms are now open to the students and everyone is starting to arrive. These dorms will be their home for a year. Will something exciting happen during their stay…?

I.e. if there will be a 5 minute one-on-one conversation between characters PM the participant or use the discussion board to create a post covering their conversation. That way the conversation won’t take multiple posts.

Shizuka Kaigan High School
(Note: it is not 100% accurate to a typical Japanese school system to help keep things simple.)

Basic layout, the school is three stories, one floor for each grade (year 1 on bottom, year 3 on top). We won’t be listing each individual room and feel free to add details to the school layout if needed.

This is the school everyone will be attending. School goes Monday to Friday with a half-day on Saturday. There are a total of 12 subjects to learn. Most of the time it’s the teachers that move from room to room and not the students except PE and home economics.

Uniform consists: Black jacket, long-sleeved yellow sweater, long-sleeved white shirt with collar, black skirt or pants, trendy tie with off-center red stripes, and black socks. In the summer the jacket/sweater is usually shed, people wear short-sleeved shirts. Of course people may modify the outfit to suit their individual creativity.

Dreamtime Dorm

Dreamtime Dorm is a special dorm for all participates that accepted their invitation. Due to the sleep state research all guests should leave by 8 PM. The researchers recommend going to bed between 9-11 PM and if the students take anything that may influence their sleep state (i.e. caffeine) it should be written in their sleep journal. The sleep monitors are simple wireless headbands and wristbands filled with sensors that track REM waves and pulse, etc. When not in use they should be recharged/plugged in.
Anyone that keeps breaking these guidelines will be warned, and subsequently evacuated. It’s okay if you happen to forget once, or lost track of time, etc, but they want consistent data, especially since they’re offering free room and board.

Locations: These are the locations scattered throughout Kasaku. We kept the details vague to encourage creativity and feel free to add your own details to each location. With the subway and train stations you can travel between each location in 30 minutes or less. The Dreamtime dorms and High School are 10 minutes apart by train, or 60 seconds by Kirsa’s car.

Atsumari Mall – A large indoors mall with multiple clothing stores, appliance and electronics stores, an arcade, and a movie theatre. The food court features a large variety of fast-food restaurants and is a hot spot among local teens.

Kasaku Beach – A large expanse of beach along the shore of Kasaku. While it doesn’t see much use in the winter months, Kasaku is a popular destination in the warm season, especially during summer break.

Ayumui – The boardwalk and pier at Kasaku beach, there are a small number of niche stores and a cheap arcade. The real attraction is a hanging gondola ride that starts at the base of the pier and goes all the way out to the end and back, as well as a huge ferris wheel.

Mushiburo Resort – Located high on the Koji Mountain on the outskirts of Kasaku, Mushiburo is a moderately expensive resort featuring several onsen baths as well as a ski lodge for winter sporting. Mushiburo is only open during the winter months, but is very popular for those who can afford to go.

Shiraume Shrine – A Shinto shrine run by the Shiraume clan, it is the largest such shrine in Kasaku and hosts events for many holidays both religious and festival. The grounds are well maintained and is generally very quiet, and while the devout still come to pray, many others come to study outdoors at the shrine or in the surrounding park, and the shrine welcomes all with open arms.

Akushoku Mall – This strip mall used to be a popular hangout spot until the construction of the Atsumari Mall. Since then it and the surrounding neighborhood have fallen on hard times, and the whole area has a reputation of being unsafe. There are some strange stores still thriving there though, including a movie/game rental store, an arts and crafts store, and an antiques store.

The Meter Room – A strange nightclub that has a reputation for attracting all manner of people. Or at least, all manner of people that would come to a strange nightclub with a reputation for attracting all manner of people. They’ve gone on notice many times for serving alcohol to minors, but the management seems to think the added income outweighs the occasional fine.

Dreamtime Headquarters – The company building dedicated to promoting better sleep quality with its medications and research. Authorized personnel only.

Social Link
Social links are the bonds you form from interacting with others. By socializing you get to know people, develop your relationship, and become friends or even lovers. In this RP social linking will simply strengthen your persona and may even gain new skills. For the Wild Card player, it’ll give you access to stronger personas.

If you started a social link with another character, you can post the information on your profile page to keep track. Make sure both you and the person you’re social linking with agree before PMing us as we have the final say.

And remember the higher the social link the longer and more interaction it’ll take to get there.

Appearance: Of Mexican and Japanese descent, Armada has slightly brown/tanned skin. He has short, wavy black hair that sticks up in the front and clear brown eyes. Armada slouches backwards a bit when walking or standing, and normally has his hands, or at least his thumbs, in his pockets. When he sits, he normally leans forward, elbows on table (if applicable) , with fingers crossed.
When not in school uniform, he wears a plain, gray sweatshirt and jeans, regardless of the weather, though the sleeves of the sweatshirt will be rolled up when warm. Around his neck, Armada always wears a gold pendant with an obsidian rock placed in it. He carries around a deck of cards and a pair of reading glasses; the latter for when reading, the former for tricks and playing Solitaire when alone.
He normally has a calm expression with a slightly smug smile on his face, and the look hardly ever changes as he tries to keep it a poker face, though there are often some small, uncontrollable movements he has. Armada is somewhat thin, with tight muscles and the ability to move quickly and agilely.
Personality: Normally a laid-back, casual guy, Armada is a charismatic, friendly young man with a silver tongue. He is clever without being necessarily intelligent and has a sharp wit, leading to often sarcastic statements and dialogue.
He is talented at stage show magic and illusions, which he often uses in order to con or extort things from others. His agility makes him a good thief, as well, though he only steals rarely. While a greedy and a miser, he does hold on to some form of code; he is wary of taking object of mid to high value, and never takes from someone he perceives is less well off than he is.
Armada is also a gambler, though the laws in Japan against gambling prevents him from doing so in large groups; instead, he either makes bets in jest or small bets. Interestingly, he's not a very good judge of people, making it difficult for him to take advantage of them initially.
History: Armada was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, after his mother, a Japanese immigrant, met his father, a Mexican-American, while she was visiting a casino. Although never officially married, the two of them began to live with each other, and a couple years later Shun was born. His father called himself a professional gambler, and taught his son a lot about the trade when Shun was old enough to understand, often deceiving him out of rather worthless possessions. Shun's mother was an office worker for some obscure company.
As a child, Shun enjoyed getting stuff, often scheming his classmates out of food during snack time, only avoiding trouble by sweet talking them into believing they didn't need it and occasionally threatening them if they wanted to tell. When he was 12, his father suddenly left (still unmarried) and a year later, his mother inexplicably moved back to Japan. There, he took the two years of junior high school, a gaijin, though he managed to avoid some of the consequences with his charm. During this time, he also did odd jobs in order to help with the income.
At 15, when he was to enter a high school, nobody was sure how they were going to afford the cost. His mother was thinking of sending him back to the States to live with old friends, until the Dreamtime letter came in the mail. Armada agreed to go, and he was promptly sent off to Kasaku.
Other: Because of his father, Armada knows a few words in Spanish, mainly curses, which he may include his language at times.
A decent cook, his wont for experimentation often leads to either spectacular meals or horrid ones.
Sean is the name he used back in America in school.
It was a rumor in his old schools that he keeps a blue notebook with all the information he has gathered on people in it. No one has confirmed this, though.

Persona’s appearance: The Greek god of merchants, thieves, travelers and all those who live by their wits, Hermes is depicted as a young, limber man. On his head, he wears his famous winged helmet, which reaches over to cast a shadow over his eyes. He wears the traditional body armor of a Greek soldier, and on his feet are his pair of winged shoes. He wields the caduceus staff in his right hand and holds a message scroll in his left.
Persona's Type: Largely a spell caster, he utilizes mostly Agi spells, with a few weaker healing spells and status affecting abilities. Hermes makes quick, accurate strikes, though they are not overly powerful and has a weak defense.

Personality: A young woman afflicted with Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD), Ikeda (whose personalities all share the same name) has three separate identities:

The Princess - A haughty, judgmental individual. Under this personality, Ikeda becomes very strict,commanding, and highly reactive. She has very biased opinions and will disregard any ideas that go against her own without consideration or explanation. She is, however, an excellent leader and a decent tactician. Speaks with a loud voice.
The Judge - An emotionless, rational individual. Under this personality, Ikeda becomes cold and distant, losing all emotions for the sake of objective thought. She is heartless in her decisions, disregarding the impact that she makes on others. However, her decisions are always rational and well-thought out, making her an excellent judge. Speaks with a monotone voice.
The Hesitant - An indecisive, fearful individual. Under this personality, Ikeda loses any ability to make her own decisions, always (not often, always) requesting that another make the decision for her. She is nervous about doing anything, and is almost a hikikomori. This is the nicest of her three personalities, however, willing to help others if asked/told. Speaks with a soft voice.
All Personalities - Ikeda is aware of her fragmented identity and therefore keeps a diary on her at all times in which she write everything that happens to her and meticulous school notes since she doesn't retain memories between identities. As a result, she is of high, but not extraordinary, intelligence, as the information she writes down is incredibly detailed.

Appearance: Ikeda possesses medium-long brown hair and hazel-colored eyes. Her skin color is only slightly tanned, though still with a healthy complexion. She is of average weight and has decent muscle structure.
When not in school uniform, each personality has a different dress, aura, and look:

The Princess - Dresses always in the most popular clothing that she can afford and always looks nice. Has an aura of annoyance and anger around her. Similarly, her face always looks stern and angry, though a happy look is not foreign. Wears lots of jewelry. Has hair in ponytail.
The Judge- Always dresses in a small, black jacket over a black shirt and a long, black skirt. Her aura is cold and emotionless, and she has a plain look on her face at all times. Inexplicably wears a pair of lensless glasses. Has hair in bun.
The Hesitant - Has an eclectic style of dress, since her method of choosing involves randomly pointing then wearing. Has an aura of confusion and nervousness about her, as does her normal look. She is quick to grin. Wears no jewelry by agreement since the Princess identity is afraid she'll lose it/give it away. Has hair in whatever style she happens to have.

History: Born to a well-to-do Japanese family, Ikeda spent much of her life as a normal Japanese girl. She had an older brother with which she was very close. While her father and mother were often busy with their careers, Chiyoko's brother would always make sure to spend some time with her, much to her enjoyment.
The years passed without much trouble for the young girl, though she was beginning to notice a change in her brother. His emotions were increasingly more violent, though he was healthy in both body and mind and continued to treat his sister with the utmost kindness and love. One day, a month before Chiyoko was to enter the first year of high school, Chiyoko accidentally saw her brother commit intentional suicide for an unknown reason. Both the shock of watching her brother die as well as his death in general caused her identity to shatter into three.
As a result, her parents, despite the possible consequences, to have Chiyoko stay back from school for a year in an attempt to help her recover. Despite visits to a psychiatrist and other help, she was unable to get rid of her MPD. Her parents then allowed her to attend school the next year, one grade behind. By the end of that year, there had been so many troubles and problems for Chiyoko (since everyone knew the situation and her before) that her parents lost hope in her educational future.
They learned of the Dreamtime invitation from a friend, though, and hoped that sending her away from home would help her recover. They managed to unintentionally ask Chiyoko when she was in her Hesistant personality, making it easy for them to send her off to Kasuka without troubles.
Other: Cooking-wise, food suffers little difference between the personalities. The Princess' tends to be more hastily put together, while the Judge is very precise, and the Hesitant's food is filled with love.
Her personalities switch uncontrollably, often when she's under great stress or is experiencing great emotion (or any emotion for the Judge).
Her diary is red. Just thought everyone might want to know that.

Persona’s name: Erinyes
Persona’s appearance: Also known as the Furies, the Erinyes is composed of three women, avengers of wrongs and those who keep the balance of the world, even among the gods. The first, Alecto, possess an aged face, with wisps of white hair, but also a youthful body. From her back sprouts a pair of large, draconian wings. The second, Megara, appears to be a middle-aged woman all around and has a pair of smaller avian wings on her back. The last, Tisiphone, has a beautiful young face, but with hair of serpents and a wizened old body too aged to even stand. She is held up by her sisters, who fly with one arm holding her by her own arms. In her other hand, Alecto holds a whip while Megara wields a book. Each woman wears a yellow blindfold over her eyes, stained with blood, and wears a gray robe and a rope belt.
Persona Type: A jack-of-all trades, Erinyes has a couple of each skill type, without specializing in any. As a result, they do not excel greatly in any stat, but have few weaknesses. Their skills are generally group striking, though are fairly weak.
Persona’s element: Almighty/Physical
Persona's Weaknesses: None (takes 7% more damage comparatively from all attack types)

Name: Erihana Avalon (Or Abaron, depending how people can pronounce her name.)
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Height: 4’10
Grade: 10/year 1
Classroom #: 1-C
Preferred Weapon: Baseball bat
Appearance: Avalon is a short flat scrawny teen that can be mistaken for someone younger and is of European descent. She stands at 4’10, and has a childish aura about her. Despite all that she is athletic and physically strong from her love of sports. Her skin is slightly tanned from being outside often, has blonde hair of natural mixed tones and has green eyes. Her hair has bangs that taper just above her eyes, and her hair has two distinctive layers. The shortest layer stops around the base of her head, and it’s naturally lighter in colour while the darker layer brushes her shoulders. She usually likes to tie the first layer up into high side pigtails, and leave the front strands framing her face. When not wearing her school uniform she usually wears jeans and a bright red short-sleeved t-shirt. Avalon wears no jewelry and doesn’t have her ears pierced.
Personality: Avalon is typically seen grinning ear to ear like a Cheshire cat. She’s exuberant, dynamic, loud, and easily excited. Although she usually shows a lot of zest, she can lose interest at the drop of a hat and be off doing something new. She has a poor attention span, easily distracted, and absentminded. She loves having fun, thinks of everything as a game, and is curious to the point where she shows little fear in anything. If she wants to do something, she’ll do it. She’s social, outgoing, honest, and loves cheering people up. Avalon is usually up to silly antics, and loves being in the center of attention.
Avalon is athletic and loves sports and activity. Her favourite sport is volleyball and excels in it, being one of the best members on the team; she also plays soccer (offensive midfielder) and baseball (right fielder).
However, due to her lighthearted personality, she hates being serious and can come off as immature or childish. She’s not the most responsible person, and doesn’t usually think ahead or about the consequences. She’s not good with personal issues, and brushes off anything she doesn’t want to confront, and avoids it. She is also a bit of an exhibitionist due to being ignored often, and seeks attention. However if she angers someone, she immediately apologizes because she’s scared of being excluded again. Her greatest fear is being alone or disliked by everyone.
When she gets angry she converts to her native English language. She’s very unorganized, messy, and no one can recall what colour her bedroom floor is.
History: Avalon was born in California, in LA, and was the youngest of four sisters. At the age of 4 her biological parents got divorced so Avalon retained the mother’s surname Sinclair. The sisters would periodically visit between both parents since they both had a separate home in LA.
Eventually her mom, who was an English teacher, fell in love with a Japanese teacher at the university they taught. They got married two years later and Erihana Daisuke became their new stepfather.
Due to all the shuffling and family events Avalon felt ignored and would often do anything to get attention, especially since her mother (Colleen) and new stepfather were workaholics.
When she was 8, her mother got a job offering to teach English in Japan. Avalon’s older sisters (Jessica, 14; Claire, 16; May 19) decided to stay with their father in LA as they already established friendships but Avalon insisted to be with her mother since she was excited about the thought of being an ‘only child’. Also she would be able to adapt to the Japanese culture faster than her older sisters.
However Avalon stood out from her peers by her appearance, poor communication skills, and was ostracized in school for being a gaijin. She would often act up in class to get noticed. Despite the difficulties adjusting, she put all her effort into making friends and managed to carve a small niche for herself. She also became popular in English class (her only good class.)
Sadly her poor grades did not reflect well on her parents – who, again, were usually too busy to spend time with her and it limited her high school opportunities. Fortunately she received a letter from a company called Dreamtime to send her to Shizuka Kaigan High School for free. Excited, she jumped on the chance and convinced her parents to send her to Kasaku.
Other: She’s currently in the volleyball club but also plays soccer and baseball in her spare time. Also, since she was left alone at home often since moving to Japan she has learned how to cook and loves cooking for others. She’s also not a bad singer, and loves karaoke nights. Avalon collects mecha figures, loves fighting and RPG video games, and cheesy action shows.

Persona’s appearance: Brynhildr is a cute cartoony valkryie reflecting her high energy, cheerfulness and competitive spirit. Brynhildr has an oversized winged helmet that falls over her hazel eyes half the time, and long golden hair braided down her back. She wears a pink dress covered in white shoulder/chest armor. The dress has a slit on either side of her hips, and knee-high armored boots. She carries a large mallet too big for her body, and sprouts tiny wings from her back. Her hands are also covered in protective gauntlets.
Persona Type: Brynhildr is an offensive persona, consisting mostly of physical attacks and a few light attacks and one buffer. She’s the tank/brute force of the team.
Persona Element: physical, light.

Bash: Brynhildr hits with her mallet, inflicting small physical damage.

Name: Toriyama Hideki
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Height: 5’10
Grade: 12
Classroom #: 3-A
Preferred Weapon: Can’t fight.
Appearance: Hideki stands around 5’10 with perfect posture, and is very lean. He has short dark brown hair with a few strands hanging over his brown eyes, and wears thin black half-rimmed glasses. Even when not in school he wears formal clothing. He doesn’t look particularly strong, as he’s not really active.
Personality: Hideki is a diligent, meticulous, person bearing lots of responsibility and pressure. He is very reliable, reserved and loves organization. He may not be the most charismatic person, but many people can depend on him, his dedication and admire his ability to methodize and tackle problems. He can come off as a perfectionist, always pushing himself and others. He’s tough but fair and has gained the respect of many people in school.
Although he tries to be patient, he can get easily frustrated around lazy, immature, or annoying people. He’s not the party or ‘fun’ type, and prefers to study or read. He also loves computers and technology in general. He is one of the top students in school and is a member of the student council and class representative of 3-A. He also has a hard time saying ‘no’ (or if he does, it’s quickly overturned), and easily can get dragged into situations. Although he tries to maintain a cool air of calm and collectivity around him, he can lose his temper if his buttons are pushed just right.
History: Hideki was born and lived in Kasaku all his life in a well-off family that owns the third largest pharmaceutical company (Toriyama Pharma Inc.) in Japan specializing from cold medicines, ibuprofen, sleeping medicine, to antihistamines etc. However, because he was the 2nd son, his older brother, Takashi, was expected to inherit the company along with their eldest cousins. The pressure and expectations fell on Takashi, although Hideki wasn’t entirely spared. From an early age Hideki studied, and went to cram schools starting at the age of 8, to live up to his father’s expectations. When he wasn’t studying, he had a knack for drawing and started to realize his dream of becoming an artist or having something to do with animation.
When Takashi graduated he was accepted to study overseas in one of the top universities, however Takashi, sick of the stress and having his life chosen for him, decided to not return and take over the company. This choice strained the Toriyama family, and all the responsibilities and expectations were placed on Hideki much to his dismay. He became bitter toward his brother for abandoning his responsibility. However he is still close to his younger sister, Akimi.
Due to his strict upbringing, Hideki never really had many friends or socialized much outside his family and their business partners. When he received the Dreamtime invitation he accepted it much to his father’s disapproval. Hideki thought living in the dorms would give him a chance to experience a real social life, and to be away from his family for a little while.
Due to his family’s successful business and reputation many people know him. Also being one of the top students in Shizuka Kaigan High School (and throughout middle school) has boosted his popularity. The Toriyama Pharma Inc. company is currently owned by his dad and two uncles.

Other: Hideki’s hobbies include reading, computers, drawing (dreaming to be a graphic designer), writing, studying, and playing computer games in his spare time.

Persona: Thoth
Arcana: Magician
Persona’s appearance: Thoth appears as a man with the head of an ibis, with a moon disk held above his head. He is holding parchment made of papyrus in one hand, and a thin sharp reed in the other.
Persona Type: Thoth is a fully supportive persona that can analyze data and communicate with others; he has no attacks. However he is able to jot down items on his paper and distribute the writing, which can vanish by Hideki’s will.
Persona Element: Dark
Persona’s weakness: light
Persona skill list:
Detect: Can pinpoint where people are, where they’re going, etc.
Full Analysis: Analyze an enemy’s weakness and strength and what skills it possess.
Support Scan: Finds if there’s any de/buffers on the foe. (learns later)
Third Eye: Can detect whether an attack will be blocked, repelled, or absorbed. (learns later)
Escape Route: Able to teleport members to his location. (learns later)
Telepathy: Able to communicate with other persona users.

Persona A: An ancient warrior who carries a black lance with wing attachments extending from two separate branches, at the middle there is an opening where the lance becomes further extended by the third branch. His eyes cannot be seen due to the mask that he wears often in battle, it covers a small portion of his face and is said that when the mask is removed, his powers will become greatly increased. Upon Chulainn's pale flesh, he is cloaked in black armor with a touch of silver. Around his arms a spike near the lower area hangs idly, where the front area of his body can be seen clearly decorated in several layers. In looks he appears feminine, but is said to have come from Celtic myth as a legend and a warrior who knows no fear.

Persona Type: An all out battle type that allows very few opportunities for the user. Once his powers are active they are quite difficult to grasp. Since this Persona mainly excels only in psychical strength, it relies on increasing normal abilities to further improve what it lacks.

This should be good enough, I hope. Now I think we can start since I was like the last person everyone was waiting on. (maybe?)

With everyone here, I don't see why we shouldn't go ahead and start it up then - we'll worry about moving it back to TSF when the time comes. I'll go ahead and post my bios shortly.

Oh, and please no Persona 4 spoilers - still have yet to get my hands on a copy, though I do really want to play it. Been in a bit of a money crunch in the post-holidays...
