| What is your opinion on the Final Fantasy Ivalice Alliance games? I am mostly interested in opinions on Tactics, Tactics Advance, War of the Lions and A2, but feel free to discuss the entire world here. I loved FFTA to bits and I am pondering whether I should get A2 second hand or notDiscuss! | |

| The only one I've played is Tactics Advance, but I enjoyed it. - Spoiler:
It's not often you get to play the villain but still feel justified in what you're doing.

| FFTA is near and dear to my heart <3 I must've clocked in 155 hours or so already. Never played A2 either but I've never heard any bad word of it. Gonna hafta get myself a rom of it one of these days... A damn shame about what Square did concerning Fortress. A totally screwed up thing for them to do. | |

You even end up consciously "destroying" the world (the world doesn't actually end, but you had no way of knowing that). I've never looked at it that way to be honest. I feel like I respect the game even more now...

I tried a rom a couple of years ago but it kept randomly wiping my saves (from this game only). Not to mention playing it on a (3)DS sounds like a lot more fun.

| The Final Fantasy Tactics games are some of the most well-designed strategy JRPGs IMO (Tactics Ogre is the best series though, and I really want to play Jeanne d'Arc) but I hated FFXII because its stupid ATB system felt like an artificial waiting period tacked onto an otherwise decent action-RPG.
I still want to play Vagrant Story and I haven't played Revenant Wings.
Personally I think that these Final Fantasy sub-universes are a great idea, because as everybody knows I'm a big FFXIII fan. I'd like to see Square-Enix try this sort of thing more, and I'd like a more "normal" Final Fantasy title in this universe, one that isn't a weird action-RPG hybrid or an SRPG. I also hope that there's another Final Fantasy made with FFXIII's battle system (or something similar) just because that's what finally hooked me on the franchise.

| Honestly, I loved Tactics/War of the Lions to bits and felt betrayed by the kiddified Tactics Advance. As I played Tactics before TA, I just felt that the latter was such a weak sequel in regards to the game mechanics and storyline, but I'd rather not start a fanboy war. All I can say is, if you like Tactics Advance, then you really need to play Tactics/War of the Lions, preferably the latter despite the slow down when using magics. I heard that there's a patch that fix the issue, but it's not a gamebreaking bug anyway. The usage of 'old'/fantasy English in WotL is also amusing and the game also streamlined the spell names and some other things; some purist hated it, I personally don't care because in return we get some beautiful cutscenes and other additional stuff. I haven't finished Tactics A2, but from what I've played, the gameplay is an improvement over FFTA (still has nothing against the glorious FFT), but the storyline and characters felt pretty weak (and still kiddyish, where's my permanent death and eldritch abomination, square?), weaker than FFTA if I may say so. Granted, I still haven't come across any actual conflicts yet due to dicking around with sidequests so my opinion on the storyline may not be valid. Seriously, go play FFT already. - Spoiler:
The game has notJesus (sorry if this is offensive) as the bad guy. And you're pretty much the Antichrist by the end of the game.
What more would you want?
