Sylverant and Tethe'alla are swamped with pilgrims. They can be found in every House of Salvation and every House of Guidance, as well as Hima, Palmacosta and Luin, amongst many other places. It's also possible to escort them and use them as a means of fast travel between Palmacosta and Hakonesia Peak.

Heck, if I recall correctly even Nova's Caravan is visited by a pilgrim from time to time.

What I want to know though, is where they are travelling to.

It can't be the Tower of Salvation for its base is crawling with monsters. Nobody can get even remotely close to it. If even the main cast had to use aerial transportation to reach it no pilgrim will have been able to make it and their pilgrimages don't strike me as the personal crusades against the monsters guarding the base of the Tower.

Hakonesia and the Houses have always been places of rest for the weary travellers (some voluntarily, some not, damn you Koton). They have never been the final destination.

One could argue that it is not so much the destination which counts when going on a pilgrimage, but the journey taken to get there. Still, I would like to know if a destination has ever been mentioned, and if not (or you simply don't know), what you think would be a suitable one.

Well from the impressions I got, it seems the Church of Martel encourages pilgrimages because they view life itself as a journey. They most likely promote traveling to various places in the world for a follower to get a better sense of not only their place in the world, but the workings of the world of around them and to expand upon their knowledge of the Church itself.

As everyone's life is different, this most likely contributes to the reason why there's no set final destination as well. For most, I'd assume they stick to safer routes and visit areas that aren't swarming with monsters but there's prolly a few who do the opposite.

Because things aren't so clear cut, I can't really think of one final place that some might visit. Though maybe for those interested in Spiritua, the last spot they may come across could be some location associated with her. (I can't remember those specific places exactly) :/

Sylvarant is poor and nobody has anything to do so when people get bored they go for hikes around the world. Tethe'alla didn't really have pilgrimages because they had fancy gameboys to keep themselves occupied.

Alice's parents were killed in a pilgrimage. Does that count for anything?

Mine answer was Sui's; the pilgrimage is a life-changing act, thus it has no center and can vary on the means and the starting points of the pilgrims. Particularly since Slyvarant has no recognized cultural center anyway- Palmacoasta's merely the biggest spot on the map.

I see no reason why that would not have some hold in Tethe'alla as well; the meaning of a pilgrimage is not really lost in Tethe'alla's "dark n' sophisticated" vein (that seems to render the church merely a political force) unless you believe its people are all culturally homogenous, which we can assume off hand not to be the case.

Remember, one of the sidequests has Colette and the party go on a pilgrimage where they visit all of Sylvarant's Houses of Guidance. It's possible that this is the standard.
