I've mostly been school and the usual cornucopia of hobbies, I guess. I'm working on my Master's right now - doing some final lab work and writing my thesis. Almost there!

I'm actually married now Asides from that, I work at the governement of Canada in finance. One term left until I graduate and can become a full time employee. My team like me and I like my team so this has good odds of happening

Planning to buy a house with my wife too. The ideal timeline is moving in 10-12 months from now.

Don't feel too bad, we got married 7 weeks ago so that's a pretty recent devlopment

Working for the governement a lot more intellectually stimulating plusyou get so many perks like a gold plated pension and some sweet insurance. I'm not going back to the private sector! Plus, I like feeling like I'm more than an employee number.

On the down side, bureaucracy sure is frustrating sometimes! Every process is just sooo slowwwww and needlessly complicated. Canada's public service is actually trying to renew itself but some older folks are very reluctant to change.

I hope you enjoyed the free time you had. Because Factorio will take all your free time for some weeks before you finally get it normalized.

Since we last talked—university, grad school, almost killing myself on 120V mains, research, anxiety, thesis, long-term relationship. Y'know, not much. =V How about you?

re: Skype/computer, your OS and Skype's servers keep a copy of the image. You could probably find where your OS keeps it or manage to download Skype's copy somehow (most likely if you can access your profile from a webpage on Skype's website, then you could download it the normal way).

Nice to hear things seem to be going well with you! I wrapped up an MFA in Fiction Writing almost two years ago, got tossed around by the job market for a bit, and now I'm in LAW SCHOOL somehow. Trying to keep up on my writing, but it is hard when I am tired and busy all the dang time.

Ah, nice! But yeah, MFA CW isn't the most immediate key to the job market, unless you get incredibly lucky with your writing. =V I mean, this is one reason I pursued a Bachelor's in Engineering, not a B. Music, given passion in both; I'm keeping all the creative stuff like music, composition and fiction-writing to hobby passion projects.

Keep trying to find time to write, though! It's always at your busiest that you can appreciate even a few minutes to write in a day. People who quit their day job to write full-time or whatever mostly then find that they get less done afterwards.

Any specialisation plans in terms of law? What kind of law are you hoping to practice?

Looking into business law, with a focus on small businesses. I'd like to help local businesses in small communities with their legal issues -- but first, I need to get a better idea of what all that even entails!

I'm trying to keep my options open, though. I'm only in my first semester, so I'm not yet in a place where I know what I am good at/enjoy.

What about you? What sort of engineering/research are you up to these days?
