| Hey guys K-dizzley here back at it again. Mostly out of pity because this forum is 3/4 in the GRAVE!!!! I have a suggestion and it is going to have to take a lot of trust and patience but it will be worth it in the end... SINCE I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO SEEMS TO BE A PEOPLES PERSON I believe I should be moved up to administrator In my social life i have gathered and introduced a lot of people to tales of games and I do not want to introduce them to this forum without having my proper credit and reward. I am capable of getting new members in and those that would be active and could contribute to discussion AND creation. Chapter 3 of Leona Encyclopedia says: "Grobule Distortion"
Just as in Eternia of Inferia and Celestia being in grave danger of crashing into eachother and destroying everything, that is how i feel about the direction of this forum. except it's the forum and IDIOTS!!!! I have been a long time member since the original Reservia and I have been a contributor to one of the most major events of this forum I should be in the history of it and also the future of it Do not let the GRANDFALL of the forum continue make me an admin and you will not regret keele 2020

| To be straightforward here, being an admin or moderator isn't a popularity contest or some kind of award, and I'm not seeing how being in this position would influence your ability to promote this forum. We've only got a couple mods and an admin on our Discord after all; as long as Tenshigami remains active on it, we don't have much to worry about. We've pretty much completely transitioned over to that Discord at this point; for a small community I honestly feel like Discord works a heck of a lot better for us.
I think it's still important to have this forum. We do have some people who flock in from time to time, since it can be actively searched out on Google and people do spread the word occasionally when they find someone reminiscing about the original official Tales forums. Thankfully it is a free forum after all so it's not going anywhere, and I have no plans of freaking out like the last admin and deleting anything, and I'm always reachable via PMs and the email forms on this site so even though I'm not the most attentive person here anymore, I always respond when notified. Moontoon has also been extremely reliable in this regard.
If anything, you've made me realize that we don't seem to have an announcement mentioning the Discord, and there really should be one; global, even. I'm going to speak with Tenshigami about that, because I kind of feel that it's the more logical choice. I have far more faith in Discord sticking around than Forumotion not screwing us over with weird ads and the possibility of bots storming the doors every so often. After all, it seems that Drake was only person who could really step up to fix our phpBB issues that we would run into semi-frequently, and he hasn't been around for a couple years now. I feel like this forum is operating on borrowed time just because Forumotion can be volatile.
If we do create a non-expiring, public-facing Discord link, we will have to space it out so that it doesn't automatically generate a hyperlink, and we should have a general "decency" rule that the link shouldn't be posted directly on other forums/subreddits/Twitter for the same reason, only provided through direct messages. I'm not well-versed enough in Discord to know if they get hit with spam bots ever, but I think it would be unwise to not plan for the eventuality.

| We actually do not have any expiring links - we have two that are set up not to expire (not sure exactly why when we only need one) - Here's one of them!As Taiyz said, please do not post this link publicly anywhere but here on this forum - at least not without consulting me first. I don't think Discord will ever have any issues with spambots - they have pretty strict rules on scripting and bots - and if one of our non-expiring links falls into the wrong hands I can just delete it, but I'd rather keep the trolls out as much as I can. Though the potential for another surge in users does remind me I should lay down some ground rules. For now my unspoken golden rule has simply been "Don't be a dick!" and it's never had to be enforced, but I really should expand on that. | |

| I've seen this done on another Discord, though because I haven't created my own Discord I'm not sure how you would finagle this: you can create a channel and set it to be the first one that any new members see for the first time (not sure if this can be specified or if it's just whatever channel is at the top of the list) then restrict it so that only admins/mods can post in it. You can then use that channel to post a list of rules and what-not, editing the original message with any changes and such. | |

| You all make solid points I feel I deserve the position because of the fact I will bringing in contributing fans those with active drive to write and make art and have interesting views on topics of tales of. It is important to me that I also have a position where that is expected and that the members i bring in have a very lighthearted moderator who they already know and that there is comfort in my position While I'm probably not necessarily needed it would take some burden off others who might need a break and you all are forgetting a major factor without someone with ...... EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE such as me the grandfall will continue and I have the action the knowledge and the people skills to make it all work out keele 2020 | |

| Not to rain on your parade, but in my experience anyone who seeks out administrator in a small community, generally ends up abusing whatever leverage of power they have. If you truly desire to see the forum be brought back to some form of life, introducing new members should be something you are trying to do anyway. It really makes no sense to claim you want the forum to be more active, but only recruit members if you are an administrator.
I'm not saying you're going to be one of those people who abuse their power. All I'm saying is that in a tiny community like this one, handing out power is a real tricky situation. There is only a handful of dedicated users left in the first place, and a new, untested admin could easily run amok for a decent length of time destroying a decent portion of the forum before anyone catches them. Banning people they don't like, deleting threads they disagree with, swamping the forum in porn posts, etc. This is all behavior I've seen before.
Again, I'm not accusing you. However with a community as small as this, you have to expect precaution. And to be honest, I wouldn't ever expect to be boosted to admin. I was a member in the old forum years back. I spent many years with these people. While it has been a long time, I don't ever remember Taiyz or any of our other current moderators being unfair to anyone. They seem to have the forum under good control. If you really want the forum to thrive, you should be recruiting anyway. You should also keep in mind the fact that since this is such a small forum, there is no need for extra administrators as our current moderators can handle the load just fine.

| Its been my experience that anyone who wants to be in a position of authority
is completely and totally unfit to be in that position of authority.

| I have no idea what KeeleTheMan meant in that last comment, but I relate well to the first post. I wouldn't mind seeing more people coming to this forum and posting frequently. The Tales series still has a strong following and because of that, this place could easily be more active.
I joined the original Tales forum back in '07 and enjoyed the amount of posts people frequently made. However, if that does start to happen here, I feel that the mods need to have a lot more responsibility.
The reason why I say this is because during my first year at the original forum, I connected with a lot of people who enjoyed responding to various topics I posted and I liked a lot of the other stuff they shared as well. But then a year later, a ton of members started treating me like dirt just for sharing my own opinions on different things. When I did that, I never got in anyone's face or expressed my views in ways that ruled out any side (and even if they felt that I was, there was no reason for them to be that mean about it). Yet on many occasions, a number of people responded with hate speech, and I couldn't understand why. For a year, I had made so many posts where people responded to positively, but for some reason when, I expressed disagreement with Tales of Vesperia being on X-Box instead of a Nintendo console, a large number of people bullied me for it. Because I enjoyed the forum so much my first year there, I didn't want to leave that easily and didn't, but I started posting topics of other subjects that people kept responding to the same way. It was ridiculous how it happened, because there was no sense for them to act like this. If you view a topic and the content isn't of your interest, just don't respond. There's no reason to reply with anger, and I never did that with topics other people made.
I don't mean to overly criticize when I say this, but when you're moderating a forum and if members behave this way, you have to respond telling them that that form of behavior isn't acceptable and that if they continue it, they'll be suspended. The staffers should've been doing this frequently whenever comments like that were made, but it felt like they weren't, and as a result, a number of members resorted to bullying towards me and other people as well.
I don't hate any of the mods for how they handled this, but like I said, if they place gets more active, they need to be more responsible whenever people mistreat others.
