| Given the struggles that Nintendo has had against the Sony and X-Box systems in recent years, how do you think the NX will fare, and if it does poorly, do you think it could be Nintendo's swan song? | |

| Considering Nintendo's ability to always be in the black, I don't think it will be their last go. I do think they may rethink how they approach home consoles though, but I think that's what they are doing right now. I think Nintendo is pretty good at profiting from their first-party properties, and may continue to live off of those for a good while, or at least fall back on them if they keep up the quality. The Smash Bros games hitting 3 mil for 3DS and 2 mil for Wii U this week, I think, are a good indication of their ability to make money on what people do buy from them. | |

| If they were smart they would just make a handheld that's at least as powerful as the Vita, and cheaper, instead of a new console.
Let's be honest, whatever they will produce will sell just because of their brands. You can't even claim they're competing anymore, because nobody can compete AGAINST Nintendo brands. What, are you just not gonna buy Nintendo games anymore? The answer is no. They haven't been relevant to the industry as a whole for multiple generations now.

| ^100% its true.
Honestly, the only thing I really heard from them at E3 that had people talking was Zelda. One game, and that was enough for most people. If Sony or Microsoft only had one majorly notable game for a home console, it would be a much bigger deal.

| I don't think Nintendo should fold, nor do I want them to. I've been really excited about Breath of the Wild and if it does well, I'd like to see more Zelda games with that kind of ambition and that wouldn't happen if the NX drove Nintendo into the ground, which hopefully won't happen. After the comments I've heard, I'm less worried. | |

| Nintendo's never going to fold, nor do I want that despite their overly traditional-Japanese way of handling business, but do I think they should stop making consoles? Hell yeah, there's literally no point to 'em.
If Sony's not gonna make another handheld, Nintendo has a perfect niche to make something that isn't 100% reliant on touch controls like smartphones are, and focus all their efforts on it to make it something really special.

| I did have mixed thoughts on the original Wii. I didn't think they had to make a motion-based controller the norm. I felt it would've made more sense to just make it an accessory instead of having it be the regular controller, since standard controls are how people are used to playing video games. Games like Wii Sports, along with other multi-player games are ones I can understand doing the motion-based stuff for, but although I enjoyed Dawn of the New World, I felt that it wasn't really necessary for games like Skyward Sword or The Last Story. Those were games I wanted to play, but would've had a lot more fun with if they controls were standard. That was also one reason why I didn't get a Wii U. Part of it had to do with the system being expensive, but also because it relied too much on a gimmick, didn't get much third party support and I felt that it was too fragile. As great as Breath of the Wild looks and as excited as I am for it to be released, I will admit that I'd have more fun watching someone else play it if it relies too much on motion control, which it probably will.

| Wow Switch is actually pretty good. Not an exactly original idea, but definitely a solid execution. Multiplayer handheld is brilliant.
And that final scene of the trailer, where everyone slots their own Switch for the tournament. That's exactly how I imagined a game tournament would be in my childhood.
Hopefully there's white design of it though. I like to have my Sony devices black while my Nintendos white.
Now excuse me while I attempt to erase the switch click sfx out of my head.

| Mostly unimpressed, but that's because I'm not interested in any of the controller gimmicks and have never been into handheld games too much.
I probably will end up getting a discounted/refurbished one in the future for Fire Emblem Warriors... I love the warriors spin offs so much, currently playing DQ Heroes and it's a blast despite having never played one of the main titles. And if there's a new Animal Crossing too.

| So long as Nintendo insists the thing is a home console so as not to choke the 3DS, its the same old song and dance in every way that matters. Every accessory is so expensive that you might as well pretend your Joy Cons are as nigh-irreplaceable as the Wii U gamepad. Third party support is phantom unless Nintendo emphasizes that treating the Switch as a lower-cost development environment ala the Wii or 3DS that just so happens to run at 1080p is kosher- that could plausibly net it 3DS mainstays when it bows out and some of the great ports, experimental fare, and calculated risks of the Wii. Nintendo is in this weird space where they are neither the value option (smartphones and perhaps the 3DS) or the power option, and they really need to make a case for why that kind of device needs to be there beyond their reality-denying faith in their own brand power... granted one that the Wii U's selling a double digit million number of units still reinforces.
Which is a shame because I actually love this hardware angle, its playing your Wii U in the airport but feasible. The battery life is adequate and it even uses a generic USB cable. It ain't pocket gaming, but if you could slip this thing into an existing tablet case then you're still in socially acceptable carry-on bag territory, which pop-off two player makes an even bigger value.

| Not much longer now! In Sweden, some webstores have been sending out emails saying we might not get our pre-ordered console on the release day. Still haven't gotten one myself, so hopefully I'm safe ;w; | |
