While Tales of Vesperia shouldn't exactly be regarded as like, the new Catcher in the Rye in Video Game form or something, it's certainly a lot deeper than, for example, Super Mario Galaxy. It's got about as much literary merit as say, The Lord of the Rings: good storytelling without an extremely powerful message or moral.
At least, in my opinion.

To be fair, just like two nights ago I was reading a book to my 1 year old cousin that was a lot deeper than Super Mario.
