Does this annoy you too? It's getting on my nerves that Google is trying to pull stupidity throught my throat. I hate LP's channels so much and they keep showing them on my feed. >_>

I keep getting channels with videogame music on loop for 15-30 minutes. On the bright side, they're actually good songs >_>

I'm tired of seeing TheJWittz face plastered in the recommendedations, the same goes for DarkSydePhil. THANK YOU SOMETHINGAWFUL, YOU LIVE UP TO YOUR NAME!

Unfortunately because I watch LPs I'm always getting shitty related videos. I think it needs to be said that if you make yourself the focus of all your video thumbnails (and likely the videos too,) and not the games themselves, you're an asshole.

It's a sad fact that personality = popularity on YouTube, not passion or presentation.

Speaking of that my friends and I actually plan to finish that game in a few weeks since the semester is coming to an end. Should be fun.

Yeah... I agree for the most part. I think that, in order to be a successful LPer, you need to have the game be the main focus, but have a decent enough personality as well(be able to make jokes and such). Unless you're just going for a straight up informative LP focused pretty much only on the game itself.

I can only hope that as an LPer, I don't end up becoming like the drecks of say, PewDiePie. Ugh.

Slightly related: I looked up walk-in bathtubs on time over a year ago and a large percentage of my Google ads still prominently feature them.

All my recommended videos tend to focus on South African music and home genital piercing though.

The thing is that it's a very easy distinction. If you're just gonna make one-off videos that focus on you and your fans just fucking around, don't call it a goddamn LP. Not everybody has to pigeonhole themselves into one type of video, but like I said before, presentation matters.

I guess people think that if they name their video "Let's Play X," then they're going to get significantly more hits than simply "X - Fucking around with the fans." The fact is, if people like your channel for YOU rather than the games you play, they're going to subscribe to YOU, and they're going to see your shit anyway and spread it around. Advertise your content as it's meant to be reflected. If people want information on the game, the title needs to reflect your video's purpose: let's play, review, preview, easter eggs, collectibles, achievement guide, whatever.

I'm a big fan of AchievementHunter, but their Let's Plays are not LPs at all, and they own the fucking YouTube channel "Let's Play." They do some videos called Full Plays, which are a lot closer to the purpose of an LP (actually playing the whole game,) but unfortunately their attitude doesn't change at all, cutscenes are spoken over, games are ignored in favour of off-topic discussion repeatedly...I was really disappointed. They make up for it all with hella-amusing and often-creative content, but that doesn't mean their LP channel is correct.

I actually get video recommendations related to stuff I watch on youtube.

Sure, they all look extremely boring and I don't actually want to watch any of the recommendations, but I can see where they are coming from.

I'm guessing the algorithm either needs a lot more input to learn to associate videos with what you like properly, or it is just a really simple algorithm (probably the latter).

Fun fact: all of my recommended videos are about something different.

90% of the time I watch intellectual videos with the other remaining 10% being video game news.

For me, I get a lot of Pewdiepie or however we write his name. I watch a lot of anime related stuff and video games playthrough... that last part must be why he keeps showing up.

But that doesn't explain why I get recommended videos of people apparently falling downstairs. o_O

I get pewdiepie recomended most often than not now. At least it's more relevant to my interests than frikkin Mike Chang. I did the mistake of clicking one of his videos ONCE and he started showing up all the time in my recomendations. I figure he must be giving bags of money to YouTube to show up that often.
