Missing Icons

It seems some of the icons went missing (for example the "you have posted in this topic" one, as well as the "start a new topic" one).

What the frick you guys? xD

Is it planned maintenance or did something go wrong somewhere?

I have no idea what's going on :O

I wonder if those icons were stored on a server that is currently down?

It seems strange that SOME of them are gone, but some aren't (the PM, email, website and delete post icons still appear.)

I figured out how to fix it. I'll document the process once I'm done.

I went to Display, Pics Management, Advanced Mode, then Buttons. For some reason, certain buttons were linked to imgur URLS of the same images as opposed to the default template's copy. For example, https://imgur.com/dyWccaC.gif vs. https://2img.net/i/fa/subsilver/icon_skype.gif

I resolved it by first attempting to resubmit the upload. That didn't do anything, but viewing the icon on imgur put it in my cache, and of course they disappeared again after I reloaded. Instead I clicked on the See examples link beside each button and then clicked on whatever example icon matched the imgur icon, returning to a default icon from one of the available templates.

The only one that needs to remain an imgur link is our PM icon because the default is in French (MP.)

Edit: Oh right. I know why. I forget who, but somebody took all the aliased shit from the icons. I guess their uploads expired...? I'm kind of worried about all the other stuff under Pics Management that is uploaded under imgur now.

Mini post - Participate under Mini-icons is still affected. I didn't know what to replace it with and I made the above realization at the end of "fixing" the Buttons page. That icon was the green checkmark to confirm that you had posted in a thread.




I'm also moving this to Announcements so people know what's going on. Also stickied.

I'm gonna gather the template default URLs here so that somebody can get rid of the aliasing and upload 'em somewhere else. I wish I had realized this sooner so I could've saved them all...Here's the URL for the checkmark, it just needs reuploading:

I think Imgur had some problems (some pictures hosted there didn't display at all for me—including the header and pictures from other pages), but they've resolved that issue now from what I can see.

Well I guess I shouldn't have acted so rashly. At least we have a list of what needs to be de-aliased again, right? >_>

BTW the problem isn't fixed, I just attempted to put the checkmark back and it wasn't appearing. Instead, I used the upload button to put it on servimg and that link actually works. I also saved the de-aliased Skype image, and the Profile button was already on servimg.

Does anybody have the remaining de-aliased images stored in their temp files or anything? Does imgur store the history of your uploads so Ryu could dig them up again? I don't use it personally.
