Anime Expo - Temporary Hiatus - I have returned!

Hey guys, I'm off to Anime Expo tomorrow! My flight to L.A. leaves tomorrow morning and then I won't be back home for another week after AX is over. During this time I'll have limited access to the internet or a computer - I'll be able use my phone though so I might still post here and there.

On the other hand I expect I'll be way too busy enjoying my time off from work, so you may not see me around at all until I get back.

.....One word of advice though. I recommend ahead of time that you procure some avocado grenades for yer journey! If you can't obtain any avocado grenades than I IMPLORE you to find Russian gospel music! I've heard rumors that the region where Anime Expo takes place is usually heavily populated this time of year by land pirates! These troublesome hooligans ride upon pink dirt bikes and don garb eerily similar to something that would be expected to be seen on an 80s aerobics show. These land pirates have become known for their odd satirical displays of 19th century mathematicians when they plan to rob an unsuspecting person!

Arm yourself with the knowledge I have bestowed upon you and ready yourself against their honeyed words of algebraic equations! I have faith in you, Tenshi!

Ahaha about that - I already lost. Neither of my AMVs made the finalist list. One of them might still get shown though - you never know.

Damn, that sucks. I'll be genuinely sad if the ones who won were Naruto/One Piece related.

I didn't expect to make it - these were my first two AMVs, there were only 30 some finalist slots (only a fraction of which were for the single genre my videos fell under) and over 200 entries.

I knew I didn't stand a chance, and I only entered to give myself an excuse to learn. I'm glad I did though, because not only did I enjoy it but I'm still tweaking an AMV that I personally am really proud of, no matter how well it gets received when I release it.

Aaaaand back. I didn't make it to any panels aside for the AMV contest unfortunately, I was way too busy spending time with my friends. So I even missed the Bandai Namco panel. I did get to roam the vendors a lot but didn't really find anything I wanted to buy until I bought a few shirts on the last day.

I did have a hell of a time though.

Maybe you saw me, maybe you didn't. I was wearing a couple of Tales shirts on Day 1 and Day 2, and a Spectrum of Mana shirt on Day 3. Day 4 I didn't stay long but I would have been wearing a The World God Only Knows shirt that was available at one of the vendors.

Also if you have a 3DS you may have streetpassed me. If you saw a Mii by the name of Tenshigami, that was definitely me.

Thanks Sliv and Naoshi! I did have a slightly rough time of it (dehydration due to my own stupidity plus by the end of the convention my feet were screaming bloody murder) but I'm so glad I went.

Oh God I wish I had taken a picture of the sign one of my friends was holding for me at the LA airport when I arrived. It consisted of a drawing of Lina Inverse, her nickname for me (which includes my real name so I'm not posting it here) and "K-pop Zombies" which is an in-joke between us.

I knew right then my decision to go had not been a mistake.
