| I'm tired of all the coughing I've been doing due to smoking and using my e-cig makes me cough too. Any tips for quitting cold turkey? I'll probably puff on my e-cig here and there but no cigarettes. It's better for my health and won't cost me a dime of money. | |

| Regardless if someone cut cold turkey or slowly weaned themself from the nicotine, I highly advise you find something to fill the void of smoking. I'm not saying turn to another vice but rather something that can curb your addiction. Chewing gum is a great way to preoccupy yourself from the urges.
Also just be aware that you're moods are likely to be erratic and you'll prolly be on edge more than usual if you find yourself stressed.

| Don't do this unless you have some good will. I was a pretty hardcore smoker from 16 to 20 and I still like me some nicotine but I don't really smoke anymore(it has been a year without somoking). I'll suggest some king of therapy too(not exactly a doctor one). | |

| Don't tell me not to do it, its for the best that I do. Life would be a whole lot better if I didn't smoke, health-wise and cash-wise. Spending 50 bucks a week on cigarettes is insane because I smoke too much. I won't need to see a therapist I'll just endure through it on my own. I already see a therapist for other stuff anyways, I'm not gonna tac one more thing I need therapy for.
@Suiki, I might pick up some gum and I know my moods will be unpredictable at times like as if I'm bipolar or something but I have my e-cig to take some of the cravings away, maybe not as good as a real cigarette but its good enough.

| I've never smoked myself so I obviously don't know what I'm talking about here, but 24 years ago my mother just plain quit smoking.
No shenanigans, no fandangles, she just stopped from one moment to the next and never smoked again.
I understand this is extremely hard to do, but think about the bragging rights when you quit without any help from e-cigs or chewing gum or whatever (this might not be the easiest way though).
Of course she had a really good reason to stop smoking (she became pregnant). You could set yourself a goal to make it easier for yourself. Set aside the money you would've spent buying cigarettes for a year for example ( 50 bucks a week and 52 weeks is 2600 bucks I believe? Dude what. That's a lot of money. ) and buy yourself something nice at the end of the year. You'll have something to look forward to, something to remind yourself of when the going gets tough.
Heck, you could go on a vacation.

| I think you misunderstood me, I'm saying for you not to quit cold turkey and find a better way. | |

| Wow Sliv, your mom must've had a lot of willpower and courage to do that. Quitting like your mom did sure is hard, my plan is to use the e-cig, I just bought some new wicks for it so it works better. It doesn't make me cough that much with the new wicks. But my plan is to reduce the amount of liquid nicotine of the e-cig every month until I get to around 2 or 4 mg. Right now I'm at 16 mg of nicotine.
@Arn Maybe I did misunderstand, my bad. But like I said I'll quit using the e-cig. Then my freedom from the shackles of being a nicotine fiend/slave will finally be over.

| My sister recently quit smoking. I think she slowly weaned herself off of it. At one point she realized she was smoking about 2 - 3 cigarettes a day and finally up and quit. Anyway, I have faith that you can quit and I am rooting for you! Good luck! You can do it! | |

| Hey thanks for the encouragement. Today is my first day of just using the e-cig and no real cigarettes. It's going pretty good so far, I'll have to eat and see how it really goes cause that's when I smoke the most is after a meal. I went to the store and got a 44 ounce cup of soda but no cigs. The woman behind the counter was surprised. Kudos to your sister for quitting the trap and curse of nicotine addiction. ^_^ | |
