| Is it the worst Tales game in the series or perhaps Legendia is? Your thoughts. | |

| I thought that ToGf was very playable. It was cheesy, sure, but the combat more than made up for it. | |

| I don't think it's the worst. Definitely not. I enjoy playing it. | |

| Aside from the A-Artes tree, it's an enjoyable game.
Legendia ain't the worst. Good gods.

| The worst game in the series is Tales of Phantasia iOS, for the following reasons -The controls were terrible -You couldn't get past one part of the game until they released an updated version a month later -It was hard as f*** -They changed Kangaroo back to Ragnarok in the English release
Only slightly worse than ToPGBA
Tho if we're going to go by story, DotNW wins.

| ^Yes I heard many horror stories about ToP on that. I played the GBA version and I don't know what all the fuss is about. Cocky people expecting it to be perfect or like the original but it had to be the way it was and it was similar to the snes version. I didn't notice many changes.
Now, I know Legendia was good but the graphics were horrible, the characters looked blocky like FF7 and Legendia is for the PS2 so it doesn't really have an excuse there. But the combat was a side scroller and it was fun at first but then it got dull and extremely repetitive unlike other battles in other Tales games. The story was one thing that makes Legendia shine though but it wasn't the best. Abyss was a lot better overall. I still haven't ended Legendia and I've had it for 2 years because I just lost interest in it and its battles.
Graces' story was laughable and cheesy. It was a big giant cliche. I mean its based on "friendship" and it was like it was meant for little kids to play than teens or adults.

| It seems for me aside from the battle system, I've come to look for appealing main "themes" within the Tales games I've played.
Legendia has a very strong theme of family and friends and the Character Quests just solidified them for me (Will's and Mosesl's especially), so even though most of the graphical and visual stuff aren't tellar, I felt Legendia had a real heart and soul put into its themes and characters. The music helps in this regard.
Same for for Abyss. Even if the story was great and confusing at times, it stuck to its themes of life and living it on your own hence why I highly regard it as well as Legendia's.
As for Graces the themes of friends and protecting fell flat/underwhelming for me. The story wasn't all that engaging but it had its moments where the theme was evident and strong. I felt like it was trying hard to enforce these themes but it didn't work quite well as Abyss's, since both seemed to reinforce their thematic values so much more than other games in the series.

| It took me a long time to get used to the battle system in Graces. I hated it at first. I feel like one of the reasons it took so long to get used to it was all the controls seem to be 90 degrees off. {It could be 45 degrees off. I teach math, but I never said I know how to do it.} For instance, most of the tales games have neutral, up, down, and then left-right as your four arte commands. If my memory is correct, Graces has neutral, left, right, and then up-down are your 4 commands. It really threw me for a loop. Once I got used to it though, I absolutely loved it. The story is pretty cheesy, and perhaps the whole game is a bit short (compared to Abyss or Vesperia, imo) but overall, I like it. | |

| @DylDawg, Yeah, indeed Legendia had very good music and yes the storyline was very good. I for one enjoyed it and the character development. That's what makes the Tales game so great. The story of Graces was lacking, it felt like I was just on an adventure across the world for no reason at times and visited places and towns for no reason. It was odd considering Graces is a Tales game and usually Tales games deliver a much better storyline setting.
@Bo, The commands in Graces were simple enough but it took me a few to get used to them as well. It took me forever to figure out how to use a Mystic Arte. I had to look it up online to see exactly how you do them. In Abyss, Xillia, ect they are pretty easy to do.

| Graces is one of my favorites. For me a good story in a game is just a bonus so I didn't mind the cheese. Legendia is a bit hard to play through. I can't really describe it well but it feels both slippery and too weighted at the same time. Does...that make sense? Throws were a fun little addition to battles so it gets a few points for that.
Not sure which game in the series I'd consider the worst though...
...Wait, can I count Tempest even though it's an escort? That definitely gets worst. I want those 12 hours back.

| To me as well, Graces is a favourite.
I agree that the story is underwhelming, especially compared to other games in the series, but I still enjoy the gameplay and some of the characters.
Graces probably has my favourite title system and I really like some of the design choices.
My only real gripe with it, the story aside, which I don't mind that much, is the battle system. Don't get me wrong, I like it and I think it's enjoyable, but the A.Arte trees were very strange to me and even replaying it for the third time now, I'm still not really used to it.

| I don't like Graces very much (Story and characters, I just can't stand Asbel and Cheria) but I have to say that there was so much to do that I really like if for, well, that. It was long, had a funny but needs getting used to battle system and lots of stuff to do.
I just felt like that Asbel's problems and friend(ships) were not really logical: "Yeah, Richi-boy, knew ya only for a few hours but now we are best buddies for live, even so we'll not see each other again for years, have fun, future husband!"

| It's far from the worst game in the series, but it's probably the worst Tales mothership from the past 5 years. The combat was fun, but that's pretty much the only good thing I can say about it cause everything else was mediocre at best. | |

| Graces is my favorite of the Tales games. I never got to play Legendia yet so I can't give my opinion on it yet. | |

| I definitely enjoyed Graces, after adjusting to the battle system. Once that was adjusted to, I found the battles to be very fun.
Sure the story was a bit cheesy, but it did have some heartwarming moments in it.
Graces also had a ton of content, it's the first Tales game that I've gotten 100+ hours in a single playthrough and got everyone up to Level 100 as well (Thanks Zhonecage...)
I greatly found the titles and dualizing to be fun to use, experimenting to see what I could create.
