| I think most of the time it would just stay in it. | |

| I'm talking about medieval shields. Would the bullet from a regular revolver penetrate that shield or bounce off? I know this is a stupid question, I'm in a goofy mood tonight though I'm not drunk like I said I was in my other thread in this section. I can't get drunk due to my mental state.
But I think this question is also interesting, if someone were to time travel and shoot a knight with a gun, could he possibly block off the bullets and live?

| No. The thing that a lot of people don't really get about medieval combat is that the shield is not meant to directly take a hit, it's meant to DEFLECT. That's why they're usually curved away from the center, so that the attacker's weapon will be guided off-center, or you can proactively smack the enemy's weapon from an angle and lessen the impact that way. If somebody hits you dead on with a battle-axe, it's gonna shear right through your shield.
A bullet would move too fast for you to be able to affect its velocity in any meaningful way and it would punch through no problem.
This is one of the reasons why I kinda dig the fact that shields in Dark Souls don't truly block damage, they simply reduce the damage taken.

| If it's a ballistic shield, yes. Otherwise, | |

Shields/ Bucklers are much better at handling swords than axes, because the former are redirected by a shield and the latter just say "screw you shield". Bullets will either turn both themselves and the shield into schrapnel, or go straight through. If you want to block a bullet, make sure you're hiding behind a thick wall of armored concrete or a large body of water.
