Does anyone have the affection guide that used to be a sticky on the old forums? If I am correct, Phaelin did the work on it, but I haven't seen him or her since the reboot.

Actually, iirc, some of cyllya's guides are still uploaded off of old talesforum. Here's the affection FAQ:

I have a question. Does doing a combination unison attack with Lloyd raise a character's affection with him? I have followed this guide pretty strictly and when I got to the Thoda Geyser, by failing, it should have been Colette who saved me because she had 800 points. However, Genis was the one who saved me, and his total was only 780 (I am trying to get genis in this playthrough, for the record).

Man, I can't make anyone but Colette happy. I'll work on Colette for the first playthrough when I fight Zelos and the second for when I don't.

This guide really helps if you want to shake Colette off. You just need to be patient. Even making sure you anger Colette at every possible chance, it still takes awhile since she starts so high and a lot of the choices that "anger" her still give her positive points. If it helps, this guide has never steered me wrong.

That's just mean. Anyway, Colette went off with Lloyd at the end of the story, it's canon, I'll stick with her.

You won't get 100% if you do

No problem, I'll just play the game over and over again. First playthrough is for killing Zelos. Any other playthrough after that and I'll have him for the entire game, provided I keep titles and all book data. Currently I have 283 Grade too.

If I may, I'd like to recommend going for Zelos first.

Getting Colette to like you is incredibly easy, and she gains 500 affection for lloyd at the start of each game, if I understand the mechanics correctly. She'll like you more than all the others just for starting the game.

If you don't pay attention to piss her off at every chance you get, she's annoyingly hard to get rid of in favor of Zelos or Kratos.

If you think that is mean, just wait until you start intentionally angering Genis. His dialogue after a battle if he dislikes Lloyd is vindictive.

I am quite sure that Emil has already started the game. I feel that if you are going for a character in the Tethe'alla half of the game, you really have to plan ahead since you have to keep everyone on the Sylvarant side low enough for the Tethe'alla half to catch up. It is easiest to get Colette, but you get (most of) her dialogue anyway if Kratos is the character with the most affection for Lloyd.

And the thing is the affection carries over but it's not like there are negative results. I mean, Kratos can't have -60 affection just cause Lloyd said "What did you say?!" Point is Colette: 500, Genis: 120, Kratos -60? Kratos would still have 0 affection, not -60.

What I meant is, if I understand the system correctly, that Colette will gain +500 affection for Lloyd whenever you start the game again (NG+).

1: 500
2: endgame affection + 500
3: two endgame affections combined + 500

It gets harder and harder to kick her out of your top three.

And you will want to kick her out of your top three if you want to unlock all the costumes and titles as quickly as possible. (three playthroughs instead of four or five I think...?)

And of course Zelos. When you're trying to get Zelos you'll either piss off Colette a little or make her like you even more than Zelos will like you for the choice you made.

No wonder I never kicked her out of the first spot during my third playthrough, damn you Clingy Coletty.

I thought, affection will only carry over if you choose that option in the Grade Shop? I remember something was there.

It may not be that bad for the Swimsuit titles. Lloyd will get his by default, two high affection chars will get theirs and a person of Lloyd's choice will also get theirs.

But what about the dance party?

You know what, I'll save the no Zelos ending for my second playthrough, get his affection ranking high enough to be in my top 3, then talk to him in Flanoir.

Playthrough 1: Pick Raine for Swimsuit. Colette and third will get theirs.

Playthrough 2: Pick Zelos for Swimsuit then kill him.

Playthrough 3: Pick Colette for Flanoir and Presea for Swimsuit.

Play 4: Colette, Regal for Swimsuit

Play 5: Colette, Tie between Sheena and Genis (If I haven't gotten theirs already.)

I thought I got everyone's at once on the GC.

It was always like that but at least you can get all of them on a second playthrough, unlike the swimsuits.

What about other choices like Who should be mayor after Luin is completely reconstructed, or the teacup ride.
