I always thought it was Jill Cracker???

The Katakana is ジルクラッカー so it's jirukurakkaa, as with anything Japanese, decide for yourself because it probably doesn't mean anything logical in English anyway.

"Gill" definitely sounds wrong.

I made up some words based on the sound of "jiru" and punched them into Google. Considering that he has a move called Bijou Gate, I think it could be Gel Cracker...Gel being a French word for frost. Considering that it's an earth move, earth breaking through frost would make sense.

If it was from French it would be "ジェル" though.

Right now we know the names of two English artes: Azure Assault and Divine Phoenix Blade. Judging from these screenshots, they're both armitization artes.

Azure Assault is Soukyuu no Juuniren by that screenshot. Kinda underwhelming, honestly I'd like it better if they capitalized on the numbers part in the japanese name, like Quad > Octad > Duodecad Azure or something.

Divine Phoenix Blade looks like Hi no Izayou but iunno


I actually really love the naming of Hyoujin Fuudakusatsu, hopefully they're localizing it similarly to Quasi Seal to preserve the connection, but ehh I'm not raising my hopes up.

I'm guessing it's the second etymology as it sounds plausible phonetically (/dʒɪl/), and sorta makes sense with Cracker - something on the line of 'breaking the measuring jug/limit', however retarded I might think when writing this.

And I might be reaching reeeeaaally hard here, but if I'm not mistaken, Gill Cracker is a darkness-elemental spell right? Supposedly, it looks like a wave of darkness erupting from ground. Now, maybe, maybe it's supposed to be the counterpart of Flash Tear?

It's not giru-gill (as in the fish organ), but jiru-gill. As in,

Gill /dʒɪl/
noun
1. A drink measure for spirits and wine. Size varies regionally but it is about one quarter of a pint.
2. (archaic, UK) A measuring jug holding a quarter or half a pint.

That's at least the most plausible thing I can relate it to (probably about the measuring jug) because I don't think Jill has any meaning.

I'm glad there seems to be a legit reason for an arte name change for once. Plus, Beast never made much sense as an arte name anyway.

If they didn't change it, I was thinking they would do like a chant or like how Sekai goes "JIGEN HAOH RYU!" before screaming the technique name, for that scene.

Something like Strelka-style Technique: Beast? Dumb sounding though.

I honestly hoped that they renamed it to Beast King Fist Roar for the lulz. it still works cuz lion can also be a beast king, better even for that final hi ougi because three syllables.
