| Hey everybody, I don't necessarily pay attention to the Tales boards very much, but if we're getting a lot of spam from Facebook petitions and otherwise let me know if we need to ban some people.
TalesTails and Milkytalesgames, you literally came to this board to shill. Not everybody's going to appreciate that, no matter how good-intentioned. We're also cynical bastards, not ignorant ones, especially considering how long most of us have known the Tales series.
In addition, if the IP addresses are accurate enough, YOU'RE BOTH THE SAME GODDAMN PERSON.
I didn't even need to check the IP, because I've been on the internet long enough to recognize your attitude, but there's some proof to go with my intuition. And don't try to use fancy words to seem like the bigger man, you're being just as insulting and plenty more rude.
Sure, it would be great if Tales of Vesperia on the PS3 came over here, but it's extremely unlikely that Namco would localize something that far into their back catalog, and it really isn't old enough for an upgraded port, judging from past examples (and common sense, given how many Tales games are in development currently.)
The game is available in North American on the 360, deal with it, like the 360 and Wii-owning Tales fans had to once Namco decided to go PS3-exclusive after Tales of Graces.
I'm not going to ban you or anything, because everybody tries this internet anonymity shit at some point, but grow up or get out, please.

| I still stand that they can make a decent profit with Vesperia, if they Hearts R or PSN (Is it even available in PSN?) the localization.
Though I can wait. A Vesperia Final Mix can happen in the following years. Probably.

| MilkyTalesTails, it's not that we don't want Tales of Vesperia PS3 localized. Most of us would probably even buy and play it at some point, but if I recall correctly, the team behind the game itself has said that it is not going to happen, as well as multiple representatives from Bandai Namco.
Something you're probably not taking into account is that Bandai Namco is, before anything else, a company. In order for companies to continue being a company and releasing games, they need to make money with their games. Let's assume for a moment you can get 250 thumb's ups. That's 250 potential buyers. Not everyone on that list is going to buy the game (or not immediately in any case) and there will probably be some more who never knew about/ bothered with the petition who will buy it anyways. But still, if they sell 500 copies they would not make enough money to make a profit.
It's simply not worth the translation effort. Not now. Sure, it might still happen at some point, and the question is asked very, very often, so it probably will at its 10th anniversary maybe, but it's always a few loud people who ask that question, and not a huge amount of fans.
I guess the most reliable way to get this done; to actually get this done, if you could show Bandai Namco how much money people are willing to pledge to the game when it comes out, and how many people in total are willing to buy it. Something like a Kickstarter.
Good luck.
@Arn: you make me sad. | |

| Good things come to those who wait. If ToSC is any indication, we will prolly see an upgraded port of Vesperia in a few years anyway.
I wanna play the port too but you gotta learn when to move on and spend your energy on other things.

| I love ToV and would love to see it localized.
However, it's not happening anytime soon.
Sometimes, love (for the game) also means you have to let go.
Let it go. Let it go. | |

| Why do they localize some Tales games and not others? Are they spoiling their Japanese fans over everyone else? Seems like it. In the end Bandai Namco does whatever they want. At least I have not many complaints for the games they do localize. I guess if you really want to play Vesperia for the PS3, learn Japanese! >.> | |

They bring over any game they believe will make them money. - swordandshield wrote:

Pffffhahahahahaha! Uh, in that sense, every Japanese company under the sun does this. They aren't "spoiling their Japanese fans" by refusing to cater to your every want. Japan is their PRIMARY MARKET. Likewise does every western developed game make it into Japan? No, because they released the game for their intended audience already. Everyone else is an afterthought. - swordandshield wrote:

They do what they think is profitable. Could Vesperia PS3 have been profitable? Possibly, but they don't think so. Oh well. - swordandshield wrote:

Well actually there have been a number of complaints from a completely different (and arguably far more annoying) crowd. - swordandshield wrote:

Or, oh I don't know. Wait for the English patch? Or play the localized 360 version - the vast majority of which is the same - beforehand so you have some idea of what's going on? (I admit if you do not already have a 360 that last option is pricey but if you want something bad enough you do what you must.) Personally I would have LOVED to have seen the PS3 version get a western release, but it's been 5 years. It's time to move on. 5 years is a long time to be a Bad Egg.

~Foreign language never bothered me anyway~ Subs are good enough for me! I watch nearly every anime in Japanese. I'm not a purist or anything --- it just sounds better. Since I cannot judge Japanese voice actors (unless they sound really bad), I can't know if the VA sucks or not However, when it comes to Japanese game, I prefer English Dub.

| Was ready to get out my giant "Vesperia PS3 is never coming and here's why" but looks like plenty of people here ( and Namco itself, on numerous recent occasions) have already gone above and beyond in explaining the situation. "Budget constraints" is not the reason -- they simply don't think it will be as profitable of a venture as other potential releases. Them localizing a Vita game over Vesperia shows their level of confidence in that game's potential sales. As an aside... if 250 likes is your stretch goal it isn't going to work. One of my good friends is one of the biggest Vesperia fans you'll find. He ran a Vesperia PS3 Facebook page with some 50,000+ likes (back when Vesperia PS3 had something of a chance), but was able to take Namco's recent transparency (and them skipping Vesperia countless times for other releases) for what it meant and was able to move on. He eventually deleted the page. | |
