Watched Tales of Vesperia The First Strike

I got around to watching the First Strike movie and I will say that it was pretty good.
Although I haven't played Vesperia (but have watched some gameplay footage), I agree that it's not essential to watch, but does make a good prequel. It gives fans a chance to see a little more of Yuri, Flynn and Rita along with some new characters and it was cool seeing Repede before he was full-grown.
I also related to the frustration that Yuri had with Flynn. Even though I don't hate either character, I've had similar issues with my sister, who I have a similar background with. Even though she and I aren't enemies, because of the problems I've had with her, I related to Yuri's frustration with Flynn so well and watching it was minor therapy.

For those who have seen it, I have some questions to drill you on:

What did you think when you first saw:

3. A younger Repede?
4. Niren meet Rita?
5. Yuri attempt to save Niren?
6. Repede comfort him in the aftermath?

8. Yuri and Flynn defeat him?
9. Yuri and Flynn part ways?

I always sided with Flynn more than Yuri.

2. The bar fight?

Slow and boring.

3. A younger Repede?

Cute.

4. Niren meet Rita?

No feelings towards it.

5. Yuri attempt to save Niren?

Unexciting.

6. Repede comfort him in the aftermath?

Repede is great,

7. That Garista was the main antagonist?

Unsurprising, and he held the best moments in the movie.

8. Yuri and Flynn defeat him?

Expected.

9. Yuri and Flynn part ways?

Good.

Garista was definitely a highlight of the film.
If you enjoyed J. Michael Tatum in that role, you should see some of his other work if you haven't. He has done a lot of great roles, including others similar to that character.

My favorites are Kyoya in Ouran and France in Hetalia.

I've seen his stuff. His role as Julius in Xillia 2 is pretty great.

watched it for the third time just an hour ago...

1. The frustration Yuri has towards Flynn?
i understood that better after the movie. but i also get Flynn's side now. it's hard putting up with Yuri in his position.

2. The bar fight?

but i was a little disappointed that the guild members were drawn like villains are usually drawn in animes... so that kinda took away from it a bit. but Flynn's face made up for it!

3. A younger Repede?
O.O so cute.... i loved where he bit Yuri when he rolled around in his sleep

4. Niren meet Rita?
KITTY
my first thought...
and second and third....
but it only solidified my impression that Rita is really lonely. she has just not realized that back then.

5. Yuri attempt to save Niren?
that probably left an impression on Yuri for a while

6. Repede comfort him in the aftermath?
sweet. just so cute...

7. That Garista was the main antagonist?
not surprising to me. i saw that coming for a while when Rita mentioned he was a jerk. she has quite a good judgement of character despite being childish about it every now and then.

8. Yuri and Flynn defeat him?
was glad to see them fight together like this

9. Yuri and Flynn part ways?
necessary. distance brings people closer together
