| I'm kind of excited about it being localized on August 19th since the first game is pretty good and Xillia 2 is supposedly better??? Very nice. Why is it better though? Better story, better combat? What? | |

| "Better" is subjective. Everyone has different tastes, and I've met people who vastly prefer the first game to the second. Just play it when it releases and decide for yourself then. | |

| Does he really? Lol. And I know its subjective and I know everyone has different tastes. I'll play it when it is released and see for myself. I'm sure I'll at least like it since I like the first one. | |

| I personally think gameplay and story were better in Xillia 2. Ludger has some interesting mechanics that makes the battles really fun, some skills like side-step are available from the beginning without cost, all the "unlinkable" artes can be linked resulting in a generic linked arte, and the sub events are better organized. I also felt the story interesting the whole game, I loved the first Xillia for the first couple of hours but then I started to get bored until near the end. Xillia 2 isn't perfect though, some things like the debt system can make you hate the game. | |

| Really? You found Xillia boring until near the end? It doesn't seem boring to me, lots of plot twists in it that I can say which makes things interesting and has you wonder what will happen next. Right now I'm at the part where Milla supposedly dies...but of course she'll come back since shes in Xillia 2. I'm also level 66 and have level 79 weapons and level 78 armors.
The debt system doesn't sound too good, what is it exactly?

| Ludger decided to pursue higher education and now he's tens of thousands of dollars in student loan debt. As a result, Sallie-Mae calls him incessantly demanding her money back, since his six month grace period is up.
I mean, that's not exactly what's going on, but close enough. (And yes, you do get phone calls every time you have enough gald on hand to make a payment.) I haven't played the game yet but I already empathize with Ludger 110% on this issue.

You could all ways spend all your gald on items and transfer them over to the next play through and sell them.

You have to pay off money to progress with the story/unlock new destinations for the train, if you have enough money to actually pay it off you'll keep getting a phone call until you pay it off. Though it's not that hard to pay off if you just use food items and do quests, and once you get the casino open it gets pretty easy since you can buy these stones that sell for 20k each. Also, if you pay off a certain amount you'll get items in Ludger's mailbox. Mostly catfood and skill books, sometimes costumes.

The debt system doesn't sound too good, what is it exactly? I was disappointed with the story, but it's mainly because I was overhyped with the game and it wasn't what I expected, lol. But still, some of the plot twist made me keep playing it, and right now I'm considering a second playthrough. The debt is not as bad as it sounds, you have to pay an amount of gald after each chapter, but it's quite easy to gather it. Most of the times you will already have the money when you need it. It won't be really annoying unless you wanna speedrun the game or something like that

It won't be really annoying unless you wanna speedrun the game or something like that What's wrong with the story? It's a lot better than Graces story at least. Now that was a sham on the whole series although it had superior combat and customization for your weapons and armor unlike other Tales, it still falls short on the story. It was bland and not exciting unlike Xillia. What did you expect from Xillia anyway? Oh that's good about the debt, I don't speedrun cause that's not enjoying the game, that's just rushing through it which I find to be rather dumb. @Scrawlers, That's not too bad, ten's of thousands of Gald is easy enough to get if you grind a lot like I do... @Dei, Hmm, I see. Well does the debt ever actually get paid off and you're done with it or does it go indefinitely throughout the whole entire game? Well it sounds like you have to pay for the train and unlock new places to go throughout the whole game right? Seems money is a big thing in this game and to be able to have decent equipment you gotta be smart with it.

| It's not that hard to get the money, but it's annoying because it forces you to stop and do sidequests (which for the most part are just fetch quests that don't even bring anything story content-wise (and when they do they're not even voiced)) or character quests (that you'd be doing anyway but which could have been better implemented), and often leads you to make the choice not to get better weapons/armor to save money. It slows down progression, especially when you're like me and like to finish the main story quickly because you can't stand not knowing what happens next. Because of that, I found the game pretty restricting (party limitations didn't help either in that sense).
And then Nova bugging you every time you have one gald too much, gaaah that was infuriating.
Scrawlers' right though, students in debt are probably gonna relate a lot XD

There isn't anything wrong really, is just I didn't like it, around the second boss or so I didn't like the direction the story was following. The sexual fanservice for example, I know most people enjoy those things but I personally get bored with them. Also, I chose Milla in my first run and at the moment I thought some things didn't have an explanation, then I learned they were explained on Jude's side, lol. Graces also disappointed me on the story side, as much as I like the gameplay, I dropped the game around chapter 2 because I wasn't interested on following the story

Can someone refresh my memory? Before the second boss Presa starts touching Milla's body, only on Milla's side. Also all those things that DylDawg mentioned, but it's not too much

Thanks! I haven't played Milla's side very far yet, so I was at a bit of a loss. The direct-tethering thing I thought was actually kind of funny, but other than that, I barely even noticed. Although I do recall that before I started playing Xillia, I thought Milla's standard outfit was very revealing. But that did not bother me in-game at all, since I made her wear her school outfit and later her casual outfit for most of the game. I guess that is what stood out most to me in Xillia. The hilarious scene breaking costumes. And Alvin in the woods of course.

| As stupid as Milla's hooker outfit looks it had at least "some" reason to be there: She didn't care as long as she could fight in it and that was the case despite Ivar's, could we say intentions? Plus, as long as she had the spirits she didn't need any real clothes... after she lost them it's only about "I can fight in that." which was strange, but I guess, she was just too used to that outfit, eh? I guess, I can somehow accept that because I saw Fang in FF13... only second to Serah's summoner pants. | |
