| I'm so late on all this news <3 Isabelle Assist! Charizard! Greninja! Zero Suit Samus! Yey~
I'm wondering why we have no Earthbound characters yet.
I'm also considering getting both versions if I have the money? Because 3DS I can play online with my friends that actually play games, but Wii U I can play when people come over (which is rarely now because I live in the middle of nowhere) /hmmm
Are the only differences between the versions stages so far?

| ^ The 3DS version has an exclusive multiplayer mode, a 5-minute run through different sections (meaning the 4 players will not likely run into each other) of a Subspace Emissary-style obstacle course for power-ups, ending in a fight with those power-ups applied, beyond that its still just stages. Ness and Captain Falcon will be back in due time; F-Zero and Mother's irrelevance isn't important when they are a part of the acknowledged original 12 and fan favorites. The game is really reflecting the Mario-Zelda-Pokemon existence of Nintendo right now. Brawl did too, but since Brawl began in 2005 I don't think it intended to be prophetic. What makes me happy is that we're seeing Sakurai admitting that not every experiment in Smash Brothers is automatically a success (Which is how I'm going to interpret the lack of transformations, despite the 3DS being the actual cause), and that not every opinion he has on the series is gospel (That "For Glory" mode exists at all). That's progress. Wondering if they have any heavy-hitter announcements left. We have a few more returners to go through; Ness, Captain Falcon, and Meta Knight at the very least, Game and Watch and Falco will probably be back too. Maybe I'm just so meta that I can't hype this game (But then anyone who has actually been playing sine 1999 should, frankly, have that weathered mindset by now), but the only real big hit so far has been Little Mac; Mario and Pokemon reps are guaranteed, no real excitement there, and Mega Man was so far out of left field that the most I could must was a "Yay, you're not just sitting on the I.P, Capcom". Which was not the reaction one is supposed to have. - Txn wrote:
- That Nintendo Direct. No playable Ridley, but at least we have this as a final smash.
I also appear to be the only person on the internet whose first reaction this was a resounding "...why?" I mean, keep it to the trophies. Trophies from all seven series, do it, F-Zero and Metal Gear got a ton more trophies than they needed relative to their importance in Brawl, there's a precedent. But the entire game is built around amazing cross-over action, this is just overzealous. The thought of actual new game modes, though, is where my interest, and so far that is actually happening.

| I know it's early but Little Mac looks like he'd be SO OP, even with the crappy recovery.
Still holding out hope for Lloyd. ToS was one of the precious few RPGs released on Gamecube at the time. Though Chronicles being a PS3-exclusive probably kills that dream for good. Blargh.

Little Mac looks nowhere OP tbh no projectiles and no air game will kill him if this game is anywhere as air campy as Brawl and even with that he looks like he'd get zoned out by Falco or Snake(If he returns)

I'll bet for that reason alone, that those two get axe'd

| I got around to actually watching the characters portion of the Nintendo Direct (will likely watch the whole thing later.)
Man...There's a whole bunch of characters in this game that I want to play as. Wonder who my main will end up being. I'm *really* liking Zero Suit Samus. I like that the heels are called "jet boots" in the Nintendo Direct. That's how they should be referred to, unless you're a mega jerkface.

| I'm fully expecting Chrom from Fire Emblem: Awakening to replace Ike. Shame, I like Ike. | |

| A Awakening character is a certainty for numerous reasons: Since Melee, we've had a FE character to represent the most recent FE game, A FE: A stage has already been revealed(Arena Ferox), and the trophy teaser of Tiki.
I'm sure many expect Chrom or Lucina but knowing Sakurai, it could be the tactician for all we know.

| Honestly, I'd much rather Robin be the FE:A represenstive. They'd be a much more refreshing character and it'd be nice to have a non-swordsman FE represenative for once.
Chrom, on the other hand, wouldn't be too different from Marth. :/ Idk I find him so unspectactular and boring, so I'd be disappointed if Marth and him were the only FE reps.

| I agree, Colour. Hell, I wanted Micaiah to be in Brawl for the change of pace when it came to FE representation despite how much of a terrible character she was plot-wise. I can actually see them putting in Robin/The Tactician and actually having both genders as alternates.
Honestly, I'm glad they're improving the online features, however, I am still skeptical on the lag since in the Direct, and showcasing an online match, it was a Tokyo VS Kyoto match - that's not very far apart if you ask me. The online should be optimized for greater distances.

| So, someone debate with me on this: I rewatched the Direct and noticed something on the Online Play segment: one of the showcases had a text-up stating: Tokyo vs Kyoto. I know what it means but what worries me is the distance.
Tokyo and Kyoto are roughly half a state in distance. Do you guys think the lag will still be there when the game finally comes to the west?

| I really hope they'll take the time to make a good online mode this time. With Brawl, playing with people from the US was unbearable at times. | |

| I also really hope for this, most of the people I will probably play online with are in the states as well :/ and I'll be playing online from 3DS most likely. | |

If Kid Icarus Uprising (Sakurai team) and Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo + wifi infrastructure) are any indication, they did learn to do that.

| I hope so. Even though I stepped down from being a hardcore player back in Melee and value the fun that is items and stages other than Final Destination, I love a good competitive match and will be using both Online modes depending on my mood. | |
