Brawl's online was unplayable no matter who I was playing against...I lagged even against people in the same city as me. -.-

| Well, that video certainly leaves me the impression we're going to get some big news regarding SSB again besides what was shared in the video. | |

| So, since the Wii gaming internet service dies Tuesday, I figured to get a replay of one last memorable moment on Brawl WiFi.
Then I realized that I was playing on the Wii U now; no more GC controller. Boy, was it awkward trying to find the perfect button set-up on the Classic Controller, even more awkward playing it on the still-existing laggy online.
It made me then wonder how are they going to optimize the button layout for the 3DS version of SSB4? I'll assume they'll make the R button to grab and L button to shield. I'm pretty sure it's going to play like a whole different game.

| Hopefully it'll force them to make changes that benefit the controller, I agree that using any of the Wii controllers for Brawl was always awkward, not that I played much of it. | |

| So female villager is just a costume? Okay, thought it was a character for a moment. This makes sense. - Taiyz wrote:

That is entirely the fault of every Brawl player who chose to continue to main the Gamecube controller for the past 6 years, myself included, not Nintendo's. We've had the option to break that habit since 2008 for a future we all knew would Gamecube-less. Not that any of this is really an issue with the Wiimote-to-Gamecube adapater... presuming the game actually supports Wii Classic. We've only assumed, with precedent, that it will. Anyone who inevitably talks down to Smash U for that is going to get my whimpering online ire; I was honest-to-god asked about a year ago "Why don't they make Gamecubes anymore?" Oh, I'm sorry, the last Nintendo game you played was Melee? Not that you did not have good reason to skip the Wii, but that was 2001, dearie. If your normal person enough not to wonder why we'll never have another Playstation 2, you should not really be questioning Nintendo's right to replace hardware that you likely only played one game on at a friend's house. Ignoring that Nintendo kind of did make more Gamecubes until 2011! That's not talking down to people for skipping the Wii, there was ample reason to do that, so much as "it's not Gamecube, now it sucks". The series played just fine on the N64, I'll have you know. We'll either buy adapters in droves or move on.

| It also doesn't help that the Gamecube controller as an odd beast in and of itself. Going back to it after playing other consoles is always disorienting. | |

| Honestly, I think I should look forward to this controller set-up. It should be good for a "restart" of a competitive community. | |

| Agreed. The new Smash Bros. is going to feel like a fresh start because the competitive community avoided Brawl as best it could. Let's just hope that they don't throw another hissy fit. | |

| Seriously? Another tumor that's going to be growing out of the Wiimote? Goddamn, this is just a shitty idea all around. When you've got the goddamn Pro Controllers around, this doesn't need to exist in any capacity. Nintendo really is just kicking and screaming on its way into the modern age. | |

| If they are indeed manufacturing a new controller wiimote peripheral JUST for SSB, I think that contradicts Sakurai's intentions on not trying to cater to the tourn -- competitive/hardcore Melee troupe.
I believe Sakurai, because he likely knows how difficult it is to make sure every character would be balanced in a competitive game especially in this roster. I mean in Brawl, who would of thought that the first newcomer they introduced(Meta Knight)would end up being broken altogether? I doubt Sakurai saw his potential.
Although, I personally believe Little Mac is going to be a top tier character in For Glory matches.

| The thing is that they don't really do location tests or anything. Fighting games need to be treated like fighting games, which means using unusual testing methods, getting people who KNOW high level gameplay to see what can really be done with these characters. You can't just do your typical bug-testing and casual play.
But the bright side of things is that it doesn't really matter, because Nintendo SHOULD BE committing themselves to updating the game when problems eventually arise with certain characters.
The problem is, is Nintendo really going to care? Oh, this one character is absolutely ruining competitive play...But if they nerf them at all, then it makes the character had for beginners to use, and Nintendo wouldn't want that, would they?
I am still very wary of Nintendo. The Wii U has some redeeming qualities, sure, but thus far Nintendo was done almost the worst job possible in meeting expectations for this generation.

Too early to tell. The Wii didn't have the hardware to actually implement patches(remember the Skyward Sword game-breaking glitch that required a whole new channel downloaded from the shop to apply the fix?)but people seem to be confident with Nintendo actually releasing patches for imbalanced gameplay/content. If you guys believe they will likely fix the lag in the online play because they have more experience under their belt, then they can be more competent on actually releasing fixes. Slightly off-topic: Since I lack cable and just whenever I want to relax and watch TV, I would hit Brawl's Spectator Mode. Surprisingly balanced and entertaining matches. What you may not know was that mode was moderated, notice you never see the common griefer matches?
