| Lucina doesn't seem very likely to me, because of spoilers. Not saying I wouldn't like her to be available, though. | |

| This still seems like a big mistake to me. Awakening was really goddamn popular wasn't it? I heard barely any buzz for the console games in NA. PS here's a rad comparison of ZS Samus' moves from Brawl to this: https://i.imgur.com/vKBbL1F.pngNow if they would just make a figure out of this so I could have a decent Samus figure that isn't tied to Other M. | |

| an awakening character will probably be in the game and revealed via trailer (probably around e3) like all the other newcomers
why are people so worried about this. fire emblem probably has three representatives this time.

| Yep, that may be the case, Colour.
While I was surprised by Ike's return, I still have my hopes of a FE: Awakening playable representation.
I'll assume that SSB4 is going to be a worldwide release, so chances are that we won't learn of the unlockable characters from the east anymore and other secrets.

| While that is Ike's Radiant Dawn design, I must admit, he must have got in contact with Chris Redfield's roid supplier.
Then again, he does like to use a 2-hander with one hand.

| Well I actually like seeing that Ike is back but still hope for an awakening char ( hopefully not another sword user ) I'm wondering if Ike will have different costumes. I actually think Lucina as an alternate costume could work if alternate costumes can have different voices etc | |

| *Meanwhile, in Elibe* As for an Awakening representative. Now that there's a female villager and male wii fit trainer variants, maybe we'll see Robin in this game after all! | |

| That's something I actually didn't think of. Definitely makes more sense now that we've seen these other variants. I reckon Doctor Mario will be back as a variant, too. He just had pills instead of fireballs and modified physics, didn't he?
Honestly there's a lot they could do, since they're creating alternate skins...I wonder how far it'll go, like could we get a Daisy skin with her voice? Maybe a different item instead of Toad?

| The only differences I've noticed myself was Zelda was simply more expressive, I don't think her outfit has changed. Sakurai also mentioned it if I recall. | |

| Different expression, better textures, more particle effects. I'm just saying that Zero Suit Samus looks quite a great deal different, influenced partially by Other M (but I'm gonna pretend that it's an entirely original improvement on her character design and that Other M doesn't actually exist.)
I wish the jet boots didn't have so much controversy around them though.

I've heard or seen this mentioned before, but I don't actually know what the controversy around them is. What is it?

What is it? More "sexualizing Samus" nonsense, along with the larger bust size. I think the pic of the day with everyone laughing at Samus with the bunny hood is about the attitude we should be taking about it.

| I must find this bunny hood image... Also, the controversy surrounds the fact that her jet boots are basically high heels. A designer for Zero Mission specifically noted in his concept sketch that she should not have high heels, likely because they are overly feminine. http://www.metroid-database.com/mzm/art/MZMZSSE.pngThe concept art never says this explicitly, people just pretend that's the way it's supposed to be. From my perspective, the heels are just an attachment, an optional replacement. They get to look a little different. I'm sure if she gets represented in the Zero Suit in a future game without the jet boots, she'll have the platform boots again. What's strange is that nobody complains about the fact that she basically wore platform shoes (or whatever you would call that type of heel.) And of course, everybody wants Samus to be a super feminist representation and never considered that, hey, maybe despite being a badass, maybe she digs the heels? There's not much you can do to accessorize a body suit, and THEY'RE FUCKING JET BOOTS THAT IS WAY COOL And yeah, people like pointing out that the female characters have more defined busts in this one. Edit: Oh, great. http://mariopartylegacy.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/screen-8zss.jpghttp://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/633202-super-smash-bros-for-wii-u/68988149Assholes. | |

True; they stick out like a sore thumb, probably a bullet point in a greater diatribe. - Taiyz wrote:

Assholes. Do we have to take out camera manipulation to, now, because naturally the only use for it is up-skirts on the princesses? ZSS is a walking quagmire, I'm going to take a joke as a joke. Hey, if Nintendo wants to run Metroid into the ground in a desperate, futile, and pointless attempt to market Samus to Otaku (because if we read an ulterior motive into this that's the only one I can drum up), well, Metroid'll go the way of Star Fox (brand mismanagement) and it'll only be their fault.

| I don't think that's it. You can have an attractive character without making them a bimbo, and I think Samus is still representative of that, barring Other M (and to a lesser extent, Fusion.) The problem is that I don't think Metroid's co-creator gets what made Samus popular. I mean the early games had no dialogue and then you learn, hey! She gots titties! The plot was always just a set up for where you were, and what you were doing. You ultimately guided all of Samus' actions. The last few games Sakamoto wrote have been all about her feelings, where-as Retro's games were first-person adventures where you saw everything from Samus' perspective and her dialogue wasn't as necessary. I think you could still make good dialogue for Samus, but it can't all be moping about Adam-senpai. Also, GET JENNIFER HALE BACK TO VOICE HER GODDAMMIT, she does a great voice for strong female characters.
People love to fucking nitpick. Some want her to be a butch amazon warrior because she's supposed to be 6'4" because of Chozo DNA and other bullshit, but a lot of the sources for her stats are vague as hell (Nintendo magazines and such as opposed to actual design docs.)
If you threw a rock, it wouldn't even skip across the water before it collided with a Tumblr user's face because 50 of them were all up in yours about how Smash U's female characters have slightly larger breasts, and in some screenshots it looks like they're taking some weird positions just to show the character's breasts better. I don't think they're considering that maybe this was the plan all along and Nintendo just couldn't make character models detailed enough? Maybe screenshots of a single frame of an animation that contains potentially hundreds aren't the best representation of a character's posture and how their figure is shown? It's not like the you're gonna notice this shit unless, like you said, you pause the game and zoom in.
In conclusion, Nintendo needs to realize that even though he co-created the franchise, Sakamoto is out of touch with it. Also, people need to stop taking Smash U's screenshots so seriously.

| Tumblr hate is just bandwagon hate. ZSS is a Japan-made character and since it's still an underdeveloped ever-sexist nation they still don't completely understand the concept of what makes a "strong" female character, so it doesn't matter how they portray her, she is going to be sexualized in some form(or already has)and they won't need a blogging community to point that out.
However, they are on the right track; when you look at Samus' actions and history, she is definitely a strong character, and being female doesn't mean anything. For all we know, Samus never really adopted earthly customs or an increasingly curiosity/desire for companionship. When you're a bounty hunter most of your life, you'll likely have a one-track mind.

| I don't disagree with anything said. Other M's follow up game is going to be critical. - Spoiler:
Hell, the explosion of Samus porn following Brawl would probably happened no matter what form she took as a power suit-less playable character- simply because the internet was at that point at the time.

| True dat. And I mean this is the series that already had a precedent for Samus' suit exploding to reveal her undies, and challenging players to complete the game fast for some fanservice. I mean there would've been a pornsplosion even if they used this: http://www.spriters-resource.com/fullview/1732/ | |
