So about Milla and Maxwell at the ending(spoiler)

So Milla says she will become the new Maxwell, but what happens to the old Maxwell then? I mean, the old man who resembles the summon spirit Maxwell in other tales games? Does he just disappear or enter sleep? Having two Maxwells wont cause somewhat of a paradox?

I think old Maxwell's spirit is somewhat linked to Milla's at the end and they become one entity or he just dies, sacrifices his life for a new Maxwell to be born. I'm not sure though, they didn't explain what would happen to that old man very well. Does it get explained better in Xilla 2?

He dies and Milla inherits his power.

I think the Arts/skills you can use do not have to be relevant to the storyline.

The Spirits skills are relevant to the story. He gets it in a sidequest

I see, thanks for pointing this out. I didnt play TOX2 since the English version aint there yet, but it should be exciting. Just 4 days left!
