I think SE has a grand total of TWO Vita titles in the west (three if you count one as two):
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD (Which isn't even exclusive) Army Corps of Hell

They don't hate the Vita and it's not their job to make the thing sell (which imo it cannot in the West as a non-Nintendo handheld in a post-smartphone world.)
Besides, World of Final Fantasy is still coming worldwide to PS4 and Vita.

Because if they're releasing the PS4 version, they might as well bring over the Vita version at minimal extra development cost since all the work is already being done anyway, I get that.
I also get that it isn't their job, but I'm sick of the whole catch-22 of "nobody is buying the system because there's no games for it" combined with "nobody will make games for it because nobody is buying the system" killing off perfectly good platforms.

It's also one of those situations where it's like, I like the Vita and I want it to be supported, but I also don't want the Vita to keep dragging down PS4 games that could probably do a lot more if the developers didn't have to plan around the potential to scale things down and sell a handheld version. Sure the PS4 games look better, but I'm sure there's a lot more they could do with the games that just wouldn't be scaleable, so they just get cut...Stuff like visual effects and enemy counts, whatever. Akiba's Trip for example has to load each street, which is necessary for the Vita and maybe the PS3 as well, but the load times on PS4 are so quick that it just feels jarring to show a splash screen and have the next area reset once you reach certain parts of a street.
Also since when did Type-0 have multiplayer?

Original Type-0 has an ad-hoc multiplayer mode. It was really bad though.
Type-0 Online looks... iunno, lame? I guess it's good that the development is given to Perfect World, now the Agito+ guys can perhaps be shifted to Type-Next development pls? Well, probably not since Tabata is busy pissing overdirecting XV.

Okay so it WAS omitted from the PS4 port/US release. Had a feeling that was the case.

They didn't lie, they either removed the logos or got licences for them. If they removed the logos they would have to resubmit the game essentially since PS1/2 Classics aren't supposed to be altered.

It must be a re-license then, keeping in mind that the original article I knew of dated back to 2011. I'm also wondering if maybe Capcom's doing this stuff, like Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legends, to compete with Mighty No. 9 and Red Ash?
I mean, Mega Man Legacy Collection isn't appealing in the least, but I could see the PSN re-release of Legends outselling Red Ash. >_>

The whole fucked up (and possibly shady) situations with the two games aside, something that MN9 and Red Ash will have that Mega Man Legacy Collection and a re-release of Legends don't:
100% NEW content that doesn't involve touching up code and re-releasing existing games. The only NEW Mega Man game in years (that disgusting mobile travesty doesn't count) was a fucking fan game that Capcom paraded around as if it were something official. So actually it shouldn't count either, or I'd have to count all the other fan games released, all of which were NOT BY CAPCOM.

On top of that, their 7th console generation line-up was hardly terrible. Certainly not their prime, but I think we can safely say all of the Japanese titans best days are behind them so a rather moot point. That and Monster Hunter is wonderful (Speaking of, holy cow four games in the top 10 sellers) so I want that fire to keep burning.
...I still cannot believe that Battle Network 4 is the best-selling. What zenith of popularity did it happen to release on the crest of?

GBA in 2003/2004 (until Dec 2004 when PSP launched in Japan) was an absolute beast with no smartphones or other handheld competition. Hard to believe now but the DS didn't do as well as what it became when it first launched, thank the short-lived juggernaut that was the GBA for that. I'm not surprised Battle Network 4 of all games is the second best-selling Mega Man game. Mega Man X and Mega Man 3 are the only other million sellers.
Sony has few Japanese studios but SCE is a Japanese thing first and foremost, also I can't wait for The Last Guardian which is being developed by Sony's Japan Studio (and Team ICO).
Nintendo is never a known quantity. I got Galaxy 1, 2, and Xenoblade from them in the last 10 years and their Wii U and 3DS lineups have been superb, I can't say for sure their best days are behind them, hopefully they aren't.
Square Enix has so many projects in development right now it's almost unbelievable. I wouldn't count them out yet, and with that many console projects it won't matter if some end up being stinkers, there's A LOT of good games still coming from them I think.
Bandai Namco have kept the mainline Tales games on console, so I'm happy with them, but you're right, they've probably had better days.

I did the whitelist exploit so I could play Ys Memories of Celceta, but I'm not sure if I'll bother with other stuff. People are saying Sony will have a problem with it because of the Vita Half-Byte Loader (basically the the Wii's homebrew channel), and the trophy profile editing.
This exploit isn't staying for me. If I download something on PSN, I have to do it again. If I turn my PSTV off (and not put it into standby mode), I have to do it again.
Its not perfect, but its a step in the right direction.

Oh bah, hadn't heard about that. Of COURSE they'd go and make this capable of something that WILL make Sony absolutely HAVE to patch it.
THIS IS WHY WE CANNOT HAVE NICE THINGS. (actually the real reason why we can't is Sony fucking keeping games blacklisted that SHOULD work on the PSTV just fine.)
Uncharted uses the Vita's gyroscope so it really can't be played on the PSTV (you get to the parts where Drake needs to balance across a tightrope and he just falls off). Ys being unplayable on PSTVs is just Falcom being dicks, because they had no problem patching the asian versions. The PSTV has touch screen emulation for the one part the game needs it for.

Same with Idea Factory and HDN:R;1, which sadly still doesn't work with the exploit. But again it was patched in Japan, so it can TOTALLY be patched to work here. But Idea Factory was like hahaha no, f*** you for buying our shit. Oh well I have it on my PC now anyway for playing on a big screen, but it still pisses me off because another spit in the face is that HDN:R;2 supported PSTV out of the box, which sucks for all the PSTV owners who CAN'T PLAY THE GAME IT WAS A SEQUEL TO.
Neptunia: Producing Perfection is another one. I'm pretty sure it only has some touch screen stuff (and the rest of it is buttons). THAT one *does* work with the whitelist.

I loved how Idea Factory did that. I really don't understand why Sony made compatibility work how it does on the PSTV. Games with compatibility issues should state a warning when you start them, not block you out of them completely.

Persona 4: Dancing All Night comes out next week, hot on the heels of Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX.
Can we discuss how PIMP the opening is?
Naoto looks utterly fantastic in this game, and is that the first time human Teddy has been shown in an OP?

So turns out this PSTV hack doesn't do much beyond the whitelist edit. It doesn't enable piracy, and the trophy hack is client side. As soon as you connect to PSN and sync your trophies, the trophies go back to normal.

That's interesting, considering you can earn trophies from games themselves while offline and when you sync they'll be on your online profile. I figured those were stored there. It could just be that the correct file hasn't been found yet. If the correct file is within the space accessible by this hack, we're all fucked and it'll be closed.
Sony will probably just close the hole on principle either way tho.

Basically every firmware update for Vita and PSTV in the past 6 months has just been patching exploits, so this will definitely get patched.
I guess I'll keep my PSTV offline until I finish Ys.
