| The problem with those E3 pre-order deals is that if you're a collector you're probably gonna end up canceling a bunch of your pre-orders once different editions and pre-order bonuses get announced. Plus, some of them require you to pre-order X number of titles simultaneously. It works out in a situation like DBFC where I wanted both the PS3 and Vita versions, but generally I'd want to avoid delaying the purchase of one game on account of another's release date. | |

| Prinny actually posted that link in the Senran Kagura thread because it's a Kenichirou Takaki game.
I think it'll be a nice middleground between Kenka Bancho and Yakuza, much like how Senran Kagura was kind of in-between Musou/Warriors style combat and character action air combat.

| Well, Kliff is canonically dead. Not that that really matters when it comes to fighting games, I mean Justice was still involved in Xrd and she was supposed to be destroyed for good... | |

| That PS4/Vita version of SO2 came out today in Japan. Its the PSP version with trophies and DLC (Game Genie codes like double XP and Fol, no status effects, etc). They just blew up the PSP version, no graphical enhancements at all. I haven't found any screenshots of the Vita version, but the graphics would probably look a bit better on there. The PS4 version looks pretty bad. https://i.imgur.com/ILPwP6M.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/D32c8LJ.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/ZQkU6lj.jpg | |

Hahaha oh God, it's worse than I feared. Welp, looks like I'm stuck to emulating the PS1 or PSP version if I want things to look nice. The PSP version was already terrible in that other than the new portraits there WERE no graphical enhancements, so it looked worse than First Departure which had entirely new graphics.

| Man it's like Square-Enix just doesn't give a shit about sprite-based games, like they know the low standards of mobile users and think "yeah, people will buy this on consoles, too!" Can't wait for that hideous Final Fantasy smartphone port to come to consoles. | |

| Square-Enix's new sprites for their Final Fantasy ports are awful so I'm kinda glad they didn't make new sprites for this game.
This seems like a pretty lazy port. The PS1 version looks alright at higher resolutions with an emulator, but this is clearly the PSP version stretched to 1080p.
Square-Enix is also charging $30 for this port which is just laughable.

| 1080p of that? Not even any filter to at least smoothen the pixels? Wow. - Taiyz wrote:

This is pretty sad, because 20th anniversary edition FF on PSP has really gorgeous sprites. I don't understand why FFV would get that treatment. I love Dimensions but the graphic is obviously the worst part of the game so the decision to use the same sprite engine(? I don't know any other term for this) is dumb as hell. Wait is there any other port aside from FFV using the same sprites style? Oh god no.

Wait is there any other port aside from FFV using the same sprites style? Oh god no. I think SE blew their remake budgets on FF4 remakes and a sequel nobody asked for. They had plenty of time to remake 5 and 6 and they choose to make crappy phone versions instead. Now they're going to spend a ridiculous amount of money on an overblown remake of FF7. - Tenshigami wrote:

Oh f*** this shit. Don't give us this digital-only crap. Newsflash: a future of enormous digital-only games WILL NOT WORK until North American ISPs get their shit together (which will be the first of never).
Guess I'll have to import. SCEA doing their bare minimum with Sony's first party titles again. Friggin indie devs do a better job with physical releases. Its pathetic.

| There's also just the fact that digital releases as your only format are a bad idea. Assassin's Creed Syndicate hogs 50GB of hard drive space, so I finally had to start deleting digital games that I'll have to download again later instead of being able to install quickly from a disc.
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water occupies over FIFTEEN GIGS of your Wii U hard drive, that's literally over half of the available space you have on that thing, and it's the only way to get the game. I basically can only have that and Virtual Console games and DLC on my Wii U until I beat it.
Much like Prinny said, the irony is that indie devs are starting to push for physical releases more, even if they have to do a compilation and share with other devs.

| ^Yeah I thought Fatal Frame was bad at 15GB but holy crap on that Assassin's Creed Syndicate. I didn't even realize just how bad it would be if everything were digital. That's FIFTY FREAKING GB on your hard drive plus if you even have the internet connection to download that in any sane amount of time, there's going to be a BANDWIDTH CAP on that connection because ISPs are retarded, and 50GB is going to be a good chunk of your monthly limit. At least that one has a physical release.
Unless the internet landscape improves, we NEED physical releases.

| They realize that this is their only chance to get Gravity Rush the recognition it deserves, with the way the story was told, it's hard to sum iup all its charm and get people willing to dive into a full price sequel, blind, and the budget price prequel is a great strategy. Sony has real problems with these types of games...Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper are popular, sure, but these days they're a far cry from the likes of a Nintendo mascot game. LittleBigPlanet also left the limelight, and Tearaway bombed twice even though the remaster fully retooled the game for consoles and got rave reviews.
In my opinion this series is as significant as any of Sony's classic mascot titles, this game should be getting the same attention that a new Mario game would recieve: it's got the graphical design and mechanics to stand apart from its peers, a solid story and a fantastic soundtrack to boot. I'm going to be incredibly disappointed in the gaming community as a whole if people don't take notice this time.

| http://store.steampowered.com/sub/85452/ now you too can own the greatest puzzle/platformer series ever made! Sayonara Umihara Kawase and the original game are direct ports from the PS Vita, Umihara Kawase Shun combins the PS1 game's content with the menu system of Sayonara Umihara Kawase, which means level-by-level replays and online rankings and HUD elements that you can overlay onto the original game which is otherwise untouched. The original pause menu was removed in exchange for this, but whatever. Control mapping is barebones but straightforward and I heard that full-screen gameplay at first was kinda janky, but if you're fine with just maximizing the game window like most Japanese indie games, it works flawlessly. BTW it's bragging time, look who can kick it with the Japanese kids: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=563217768http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=563217851 | |
