Liam O'Brien wasn't the best Stahn, we already have Michelle Ruff as Rita, Michael Lindsay retired, I don't even know who voiced Phillia, and DC Douglas was alright as Garr. Might as well recast all/most of them.

There's no Stan better than Tomozaku Seki.

What a shame. I remember Peter Garza talking about how they looked so hard for the perfect Leon, too.

There's always Doug Erholtz  or Jason maybe Wishnov if they need to voice Leon in English again. I think the both of them could do the role well.

Speaking of retirees, I don't think Jack Bauer/Erik Davies who voiced Klaus in the Phantasia OVA still voice acts, and I heard Judith's voice actress retired too.

He recently reprised his role as Cid Raines in Lightning Returns (a small role but still), but other than that, I'm not sure how much he voice acts anymore. And where did you hear that Judith's VA retired?

To add to this conversation, I'm starting to get the impression that Troy Baker is turning away from anime and small video game acting work. He recently backed out of his role in the Naruto dub, which is now being taken on my Matthew Mercer, and when I played Persona 4 Golden recently, the new lines he recorded as Kanji sounded very phoned in. I'm glad the guy's getting larger opportunities, but I'll miss hearing him in the less high-profile stuff.

I can't recall where I heard that about Judith's voice actress.

I hope Troy'll be willing to reprise Yuri if he ever has to though, he was great. I could still settle for a Matt Mercer voice double though.

He's said he's really fond of the character. I don't think snatching him up would be that much of an issue. He's done non-union projects recently (like that awful Ninja Gaiden spinoff). Anime roles pay like garbage so I can see why he's not doing that (especially with all the mo-cap work he's doing now), whereas games, even non-union ones, pay very well.

And that brings us a question that has plagued the minds of Tales fans everywhere: Who the heck voiced Judith? Cause it couldn't have been Megan Hollingshead.

We're still not sure. And I agree that it couldn't have been her. I also think Estelle's VA was Eden Riegal (Sam Riegal's sister) and not Danielle Judovits. Marie from Persona 4 Golden, who sounds pretty much exactly like Estelle, is confirmed to be voiced by Eden Riegal, I believe.

And about anime paying like garbage, I gotta ask something. If video games do pay better, then why are anime dubs nowadays usually better acted than video game dubs? Listen to the dub of Atelier Escha and Logy followed by Sword Art Online's dub (both by the same studio IIRC) and tell me which one is better. Granted it varies, but you'd think video game actors would put more of an effort into something that pays more.

That's subjective. I personally feel video game dubs (particularly the union ones) sound much better than anime dubs for the most part. Less exaggerated-sounding to my ears.

I remember an interview with Judovits where she talked about voicing Estelle, and I doubt she'd just lie like that.

They just have similar voices, like Troy and Matt (Eden and Danielle).

As for Judith's voice actress, I found a discussion comparing her and Droite's (or was it Gauche?) voice to Tira in Soul Calibur, who in turn is believed to be voiced by a woman named Katie McNulty. Of course that could just be a pseudonym for some other voice actress, but I think it may just be one of those VAs you only hear at Cup of Tea, like Nicole Karrer.

Funimation got him back for the movie, I don't see why they couldn't get him again if he's ever needed.

I certainly hope so.

Liam is in Xillia 2? As who?

I'd give him another shot, but there's definitely voice actors more suited to his role......probably.

I'm going to be pissed and unreasonable for a while if this means there's no dub.
