By the way, Baba also implied that if Hearts R does well, they'll look at localizing other spin-offs. Tales of the World RM 2 and 3, anyone? Or Innocence R, maybe.

More than likely they would focus on Innocence R. The PSP era is almost at an end as is, unless they released the games on PSN, which would be cool.
Regardless, if the final product for Hearts R is what we saw in those trailers, I wouldn't want them to touch the other spinoffs for fear of them coming coming out with similar... "quality control."

Someone else happened to ask this, actually. Rather, he asked why the names would be changed if the Japanese audio would just say the original names anyway. Baba explained that the reason certain names changed was because they might sound odd in certain European countries. ...So, idk, apparently in some country the name Shing (Meteor) is odd/rude/coarse/whatever and that's why they felt a need to change it. Which is a shame in regards to how it doesn't correspond with the Japanese audio, but dubbing the entire game would've taken so much money and effort that it would've taken much longer (and would've needed a greater budget) to localize the game.
Oh ok, that makes sense
Also I guess if they're thinking about the European countries that's why they changed Amber back to Kohaku.

I'd hope the quality control would get better with time @.@ I still have hope that what we saw in the trailers only looked bad because they were snippets and not the final product. RM2 and 3 on PSN would be AMAZINGLY FANTASTIC, I wouldn't care for voicing for those as long as text in skits was ~Accurately translated <3
I really hope they don't do the script too badly, I see a lot of people getting angry at the repetitive complaining. I don't really care for the lack of dub but that's not my main qualm, that would be the quality of the script. I guess I've said it enough times to not mention it again though _-_ (Also before I try not to mention it too often, I REALLY REALLY HOPE they give us good subtitles in battle, okay now I'm done xD)
Why would Amber be offensive in some European countries?

In the German version of Phantasia, Arche's name is Amber.

While also indeed doing just that for Innes and Galando, now Ines and Gall, I don't really see how Innes was odd, but I guess Ines is more faithful to the gemstone? Gall is just Gall Stones as a friend suggested /okay
Innes is not writen with 2 consonants in katakana and I doubt it's named after any gemstone. As for Gall/Galando I think his name is based on grandite garnet, if it's the case his name can be properly converted to Grande/Grando.

Well that's an NPC, but having two main characters with the same name is more confusing

Indeed, her name come from inesite which is a mineral(and I was searching for a gemstone) that's why I didn't found it.
EDIT: Wut? There's no ン(n) on Galando's name, it's actually writen ガラド(Garado).

Maybe not, if Baba can get a dub cast together.

Baba doesn't put together the casts
Baba said this game is sub-only
Baba doesn't have too much faith in the Vita so corners have to be cut to keep the costs down
The game isn't programmed for two voice tracks
Dual audio can't be programmed in because corners are being cut

Sub is okay if every detail that needs subbing is being subbed.
Buuuuuuut, I dunno if that's what's gonna happen.

It's a vita game, they don't have a large budget. It's either this or not having it localised at all.

NISA and XSeed localize Vita games too.
Though, they usually have less dialogue to voice in those games, and NISA half dubs them...
Of course we want it localized...just not really liking what they've currently shown/announce for it though. And I am hoping they improve the overall localization.
However, I might just be getting the Japanese version. Used copies are going cheap in Ebay right now.
