I probably would have been pissed if Square Enix bought Tri-Ace, but jeez, it would have been better than being bought by a company that ONLY does mobile games.

Tri-Ace didn't do very well last gen, and all their attempts at making handheld titles failed as well. They did work with Square Enix on 13-2 and Lightning Returns, but I guess that didn't help them very much.
What's infuriating (if true) is that I've read a theory that Lightning Returns was actually going to be Valkyrie Profile 3 early in its development before Square re-branded it, threw Lightning in as the main protagonist, and switched everything around to fit the FFXIII universe. The theory really fits if you think about it.

You could claim that fits because of the concept of saving people and the time limit, but I dunno, it seemes like a pretty natural evolution from FFXIII-2.

I'm just gonna say I highly doubt that Lightning Returns/Valkyrie Profile 3 rumor is true. People just have this strong hate agenda against the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy when they are nowhere near the worse games ever, as people claim.
I bet someone made that up just to enrage more hate towards Lightning Returns and get more people to believe Square Enix is obsessed with Lightning, when Cloud is the one they are obsessed if anything.

I agree with you. Considering how long XIII took to make, and then XV, it's evident that Square-Enix's development cycles for modern console Final Fantasies are insane. It was just easier to create more games in an established universe and reuse a lot of existing models and motifs. I believe those quotes regarding their reasons for not remaking FF7, if they tried to make the FF7 that everyone wants (including the devs!) it'd probably never get released.
Final Fantasy XV is going to have so much backlash regardless of how good it is, I just know it.

Glad to see someone agree! That's also what I believe about a Final Fantasy VII remake, I'm sure the other statement about "Creating a FF that surpass VII" before a remake was BS.
The Final Fantasy XV demo is going to be released very soon, I'm really curious to what everyones reaction is.

Japan is getting a special MGS5 PS4. I can't decide if I like the system color scheme or not, but the controller is cool.
MGS5 Collector's Edition. This is the European version, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is what North America gets.

Ars Technica's [url=http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/03/steam-gauge-measuring-the-most-popular-steam-games-of-2014/3/Steam Gauge[/url] project (which uses the Steam API to track games sales, hours played, etc) has some surprising results for Japanese games in 2014.
Sales (Owned Copies):
Dark Souls II: 964,266 Ultra Street Fighter IV: 451,366 (Likely includes Arcade Edition sales) Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance: 444,266 Metal Slug 3: 443,928 Final Fantasy XIII: 327,959 The Evil Within: 250,533 One Way Heroics: 213,342 Valkyria Chronicles: 210,299 Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes: 192,042 Resident Evil 4 HD: 170,403 Final Fantasy XIII-2: 159,922 Vanguard Princess: 135,241 Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends: 131,183 Agarest: Generations of War: 138,622 The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky: 107,516 Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae: 105,488 Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution: 100,416 Go! Dark Souls II takes a commanding lead over the other titles. Metal Slug 3 is another surprise to me.
Harmonix is working on making the DLC and instruments from the previous games compatible.

Triple Post!
Nepro has put out a press release today about some things. I don't really know Japanese, but a NeoGAF user says page 8 talks about how Tri-Ace's new parent company wants them to still work on console gaming. They recognize their strengths in that area. They have been developing a new game engine for multiple platforms, so maybe Nepro can put that to good use.

But more importantly, Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters sounds goddamn amazing. http://www.siliconera.com/2015/03/08/tokyo-twilight-ghost-hunters-experimenting-with-the-paranormal/ It's the first game from Tokyo Majin staff to actually come out here (director Shuho Imai) even though it's not a part of that series. It's still an SPRG like the Tokyo Majin games, but instead of fighting demons with badass martial arts and asian rituals, you're basically playing a cartoon-style ghost-busting group, I'm sure you've seen at least one anime with this theme. The fact that you have to avoid damaging clients' property so you don't get fined is super great, as are all the little in-world visual aspects of the menus.
I reckon I'll have to pick this up sooner than later, I just hope the Vita version doesn't have bugs like Xblaze (Falcom mentioned them but I don't really know what the problems were.)

That's cool and all, but predictable...What's really hype is this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHy9y9MEqkw XSEED just secured their place as the best publisher in the universe. I'm so happy that they're dubbing it, they're even keeping the localization in tune with the previous game (the movies that Media Blasters subtitled called the Baneful Blood "cursed blood" or something similarly generic, if I remember right.)
But that trailer's kinda shitty, so enjoy some ICHIBAAAN WA MEEEE!!
Edit: Oh and Atlus is localizing Lost Dimension, too, that Vita game with the traitors (apparently they're randomly selected each playthrough which sounds kinda dumb but whatever) that plays like Valkyria Chronicles.
I hope it has nothing to do with either Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts. We're already getting FFXV and KH3, let's just leave those series at that for now.
I'd much rather see a new IP to be honest.

Finally Lady is playable, but only in Nero's part of the story (alongside Vergil.) Trish is playable during Dante's portion. There are a bunch of extra costumes. Otherwise it's an upres of the PC version, with additional tuning (Turbo Mode was very weird because the game moved at twice the speed at 60fps, it screwed up your combo timing significantly even though it looked awesome.)

You can change the 3 buttons without changing the sticks, so if you've got a shooter with crouch/melee mapped to O/R3 (or vise versa) and there's no control scheme to change that, here you go.

I didn't post that here because you're probably the only person here besides me that plays it. But yeah, game's shutting down June 30th. They announced this on the day of the game's first birthday, some shit, huh?

Kinda feels 'ugh' since I did start playing again. Guess I'll get the Familiar Face trophy and then stop playing.... sigh.

Yeah, I'm just gonna mash out some 10x common summons and rapidly merge them to get max levels, that way I'll have all the trophies except the CAPTURE ALL GODDAMN QUADRANTS trophy which honestly I probably never would have gotten anyway.

What's the capture 4 realms or whatever anyways? It seems to have a higher achievement rate than Familiar Face. *shrugs*
