Ok, sorry to bring this back to Red Ash, but I'm seriously considering reversing my decision to kickstart this shit until enough stretch goals are met.
It's not asking for more money when the other project that you totally got extra funding for outside of kickstarter isn't even out yet that's making me change my mind.
It's not the ridiculous price of physical copies.
It's that the base products before stretch goals are met aren't even something anyone would want.
The base goal for the game is half of a game!
The base goal for the anime is five minutes!
Holy shit Inafune that's ridiculous.

What's worse is after Mighty No. 9 was backed they had a second "campaign" via PayPal on the official site to get voice-acting for the game, if I remember right, close to when they announced an animated TV series.
These games are very tempting, but I feel that Inafune doesn't do crowdfunding right. The Shenmue III Kickstarter is also super sketch, I had Kickstarter tweet that I backed Bloodstained, and the Shnemue III twitter account favourited that tweet, obviously trying to get me to look at THEIR account and back THEIR game. Scumbags.
I'm not backing Shenmue III on principal because of that, but I may still back Red Ash, but I won't be spending much money. Games that I really believe in, I've backed significantly, but for Inafune's stuff maybe 100-150 at most. No more than I'd want to pay for a collector's edition.

Given how expensive the previous Shenmue games were to develop, I sincerely doubt 10 million will be even close to enough to cover what Yu Suzuki wants to do with the game.

Luckily there are some outside funding sources too, unspecified besides Sony.
And if Sega ever puts Shenmue I & II out it is probably a safe better for some decent cash. Shenmue never recouped its budget because of how enormous it was, but sales of 1.2 million copies on 10.6 million Dreamcasts (with rampant piracy and a lot of those DC's being offloaded for $50 after discontinuation) is nothing to scoff at, not to mention its sequel was done on a much smaller budget, and Microsoft even helped thanks to their paying for exclusivity of II in North America. In my opinion it's one of the greatest games ever produced. I don't do crowd-funding for a lot of reasons, but if and when the game actually comes out I'll buy a physical PS4 copy.
I hope Shenmue I & II HD are physical too if Sega releases them. Them being not Capcom and the size of the games being enormous for the time should help.
Shenmue 1 is 3 GD-ROMs (plus a 4th bonus disc), which store 1.2 GB a piece. Shenmue 2 is the same, MUCH smaller budget however, and the Dreamcast version was only released in Japan and Europe because Microsoft snapped up the North American rights for Xbox only. Pretty sad for North American Dreamcast owners.
Any HD textures or anything would just bump it up, hell, using the Xbox version for Shenmue II if it's possible would also.
The sheer scope, the relaxation factor, the attention to detail, it all makes Shenmue pretty special.
So Dengeki Bunko is coming in October. Looks like we still don't have a release date but at least we have a window now. I am happy that there are a lot of games coming out soon that my wife or I want, but I hate that they are all coming out within a month of each other. As far as I know, the list is Super Mario Maker, Yoshi's Wooly World, Dengeki Bunco, and Tales of Zestiria. Oh well. C'est la vie.

The sad thing is it was difficult to tell it was a joke because I have little faith in Inafune after Mighty No. 9 (unless that game surprises me in a big way he's lost a lot of my respect, if I back either of these projects it's because of the other people working on the game than for his sake.)

I'm sure a lot of people are. I hope it wasn't caused by work-related stress, knowing Japan.

It's hard to believe that Iwata has passed on as he's done so much, but it's time for all of us sooner or later. RIP Iwata.

If you've got a Vita or a Sony Xperia phone, you should go grab Oh, Deer! from PlayStation Mobile before it closes on the 15th (make sure any Sony devices you have are activated for PSM through your account settings BTW, or else the games won't run even if you back them up to a PC.)
It's basically an indie game based after Outrun where you run over deer on the way which decide the route you end up taking. Its soundtrack is made by the composer of Streets of Rage 3 and this version is an Alpha that they released to gauge interest in a proper digital release of the game on Vita and/or PS4.
BTW Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess is coming out for PS4 on the 15th, I played the demo (which can only be found on store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com for some reason) and it's surprisingly fun! The story is super undercooked though.

Something less like Dragon's Crown and more like Muramasa or Odin Sphere please.
Not that Dragon's Crown was a bad game, I just didn't enjoy it as much (to the point that I never finished it).
Muramasa is one of my favourite games of all time. I really hope they come out with a spiritual sequel. So, yeah, a single-player adventure like Muramasa, please. Dragon's Crown was fun and had a great art style and such, but it was too co-op-heavy for my tastes.
