So I have no 6th gens games and would like an answer to something; is the Game Corner a cut corner (heh) or did Game Freak just give up and kill the whole concept so they'd stop fighting the "No Gambling in Children's Media" laws a la Europe that gave us Voltorb Flip?

Whereas copy-pasting the Battle Maison is... actually startling me with how lazy it is. It doesn't even matter if its a cut corner, because how difficult would modeling Ruby and Sapphire's old Battle Tower and dumping the Maison's modes into it really be? Not. At all. It's three bloody rooms surrounded by Lilycove City elements. You could do that in HGSS because Crystal's Battle Tower, while showing off Crystal's fondness for light purple colors, was a nothing; you can't dump France into Japan.

Yeah they literally put a sign on the door saying the Game Corner is now closed.

It's the Battle Maison all over again unfortunately.

Those disappointments aside though they've reworked a lot of things and they've turned out for the better imo. Especially Secret Bases; I'm very pleased with the revamping they did.

Stealth Rock and Elemental Punches are a Godsend.
Hyper Voice and Iron Head are also amazing for moi.
Also, anyone planning to breed a decent Buneary that they can spare? I would love to test Megapunny.

Yay move tutors!

So can anyone let me borrow a timid Ditto for breeding (X/Y)?

I can help, though I probably won't be home for a few hours since I'm at class atm.
You can also post a Magikarp or something on GTS asking for a Ditto, just put a message on saying it's you and I can trade over the timid Ditto.

*Reads Serebii*

"...Battle Maison started in Hoenn and was recreated in Kalos."

Pokémon - HOENN EDITION - Page 22 13331510

They're dressing it up as the "Battle Resort".  Cute.

Yeah they literally put a sign on the door saying the Game Corner is now closed.

I did see that, and I'm glad GameFreak did it the way they did: I was actually referring whether or not X or Y had one.  Basically if cutting the Game Corner is a 6th gen trend, or just an ORAS thing (or an ORAS-onward trend, but we won't know that for another year.

I'm not sure whether to feel respected or saddened that GameFreak is resorting inter-generational lockout; respected because they acknowledge that some hardcore players have virtually no reason to buy these games so they lock out new content to compel them, saddened because this is probably going to set a precedent and punish players who buy the first games of a generation even more.   No

But yeah complaining over, 3d Secret Bases is great and it took me a second to take in the realization that not only did Game Freak recreate Contests in their original entirety, but that the Contests stats are still a part of Pokemon data two and a half generations later.  That's probably the best reference to bringing GBA Pokemon full-circle that you can get, aside from a special transfer message (which we don't get, but then the original catch location data probably doesn't exist anymore anyway).

Not only did they bring it back, they made it CHEAP!  Really good move tutors otherwise.

Honestly, I'm still frustrated Trainer customization didn't return and might never will because "France is about beauty and fashion", God knows Japan don't ever change their outfits, or people from other country's have different skin tones. That only exist in France. Smile

I know what ya mean, what's the point in taking away something that allows for such expression after seeing how well received it was? I love their designs and everything but good lord.

Thank you. Smile

I hope I'm not being to harsh, but I think it's just laziness. With a game like Pokemon it was great express yourself in the world of Pokemon as you are the trainer. That's why many people name their characters after them, that's why people choose a boy or a girl to who they can identify with. It's a shame trainer customization seem like it won't even appear in Gen 7 now. Sad

I'll argue for custom characters when we're past stick figures. I will give X and Y philosophical credit where they are due; I and others wanted a Pokemon game that focused on mechanics over monster count and X and Y mostly delivered (and it also implies future games might go that route)- but custom stick figures.

Stick figures??? You mean the character models? They look more like chibi characters to me, but yea I'd prefer more realistic proportion characters too. Smile
