Also about before, for those who don't know what's up with the whole GamerGate shitstorm, I found this article (with this bit of info on what triggered the whole thing) to be the most fair and succinct account of the whole thing, although there have been a lot of developments on the situation since this article was written and thus is incomplete. Ironically, the most complete account of the whole thing I found was a series of comments made by a single user on a random, unrelated forum. Still, gaming journalism seems to be going down the drain fast and a lot of game devs (confirmed, but anonymous - notably someone who contributed to the development of the xbone), excluding the obvious indies included in the whole mess, seem to be on the side of gamers, though most prefer to stay silent for fear of having to deal with the deluge of hystericals who're against the whole "movement".
Unsurprisingly Phil Fish is being a huge douche on twitter because of this, which is unsurprising since one of the team members for Fez is right in the middle of this, lol.
Oh. So it's just 4chan being 4chan.
I usually just post on /m/.

So there are pretty serious suspicions that FEZ investors skewed the 2011 and 2012 IGF voting in FEZ's favor in order to reap the rewards.
Its things like this that make me think the "indie" gaming scene is a pathetic fraud.

The problem with indie gaming is that it's too immediate. Indies can't spend tons of time developing a game, and this isn't a complaint about the size of indie games, it's a complaint about the concepts. Triple-A games like Bioshock or Assassin's Creed will often take years just to design, where-as indie gaming is all about making a quirky title based off of some thought that popped into your head. Oh hey, this roguelike game is pretty cool...HOW COOL WOULD IT BE IF I MADE A ROGUELIKE SHOOT-'EM-UP and then the next indie dev sees that game and thinks ROGUELIKE FARMING PUZZLER and then we end up with a year or two where half of the indie market is just one genre.
And then the other half is 8-bit throwback games that are usually pretty mediocre BUT LOOK OH SO CHARMING 10/10
Impulse buys for the win. You, me and Jase all got it on the same day (fucking Canada Post, I'm literally an hour and a half away from where it shipped the night before yesterday.)
The ~new~ 3DS is probably going to have only Xenoblade as exclusive. It's too retarded to dev only for it now that half of the world have a regular 3DS already.

If any of you nerds think you'll be grabbing SAO Hollow Fragment at a later date, currently there is a free DLC pack on PSN that will cost money in the middle of November; get it now!

You mean SAO: Hollow, Fragmented English? Probably not but I should pick up the DLC anyway just in case.

Yeah, I'm talking about Sword of On the Line Artistry: Pieces Emptied that Namco Bandai America obviously didn't give two shits about.

Goddamn, all these niche publishers are doing a horrible job of communicating. I specifically looked to see if Ar Nosurge was gonna have an LE, and it seemed like it didn't because it was Koei Tecmo. BUT now I found out that NISA somehow had an LE for the game and of course it's exclusive to their online shop and I've missed out on it just like Fairy Fencer F and Neptunia Re;Birth. Fucking hell.
I bet it's gonna take Aksys forever to make Guilty Gear Xrd's LE available in Canada too, if at all, because it's Amazon.com exclusive and won't ship here.

Instead of releasing a completely new 3DS, they should have just engineered an expansion pack for the current 3DS.
Remember expansion packs? Those things were cool. I like cool things.

lol sorry that was a rhetorical question. Meant it as a jab at the "localization" and that I probably won't be buying the game, not that I thought you meant something else. My phrasing was bad.

This is why I watch gaming sites like a hawk when there's a game coming out that I want in case they pick up on these before I do (that's pretty much all Kotaku MIGHT be good for these days and usually Siliconera picks up on these things before they do). As for the Fairy Fencer F LE, I had been watching the NISA website like a hawk as well (extra tab open, F5 every day).

Part of my annoyance is that I could've gotten the Fairy Fencer F LE earlier, but I wasn't sure if I cared enough about it. I'm still not sure honestly because a lot of NISA's library just blends together, particularly Ideafactory titles. But I figure it's better to get the LE now than worry about missing out on what could be a good OST, later. I just realized yesterday that the game comes out *today* and got around to watching its trailers.
Ar Nosurge on the other hand, I knew I wanted, and again, I specifically searched online because it was Tecmo Koei and Gust and has NO RELATION with NISA anymore...But they somehow have an LE on NISA's online shop (with no NISA branding.) That's what really angered me. Reminded me too much of the Re;Birth thing. I'm pretty sure Siliconera didn't say anything about NISA providing an LE for it, ditto for Re;Birth, I remember you mentioning that you spotted Re;Birth's LE via Kotaku, which I no longer follow because I respect myself too much. I also have the Ar Nosurge LE preordered and it actually was covered by Siliconera - I managed to catch it even though it was posted on the tail end of my vacation in July (when I kinda went dark when it comes keeping up with gaming news for two weeks):
In the future I'll try to be more vigilant in posting any LEs I find that I'm interested in to the forum in case others who would be interested haven't heard about them.

I reckon they're referring to that streaming platform they're gonna be launching soon. FFXIII and FFVII will be playable on smartphones and shit.
But it does specify Steam, so who knows. I'd probably buy 'em.

Yeah, I checked and I never bookmarked it, so I clearly skimmed over it somehow, or thought it was a long ways off and never followed up on it (seriously, I thought it was coming out in like November.)
If you wouldn't mind creating a...I dunno, limited edition and pre-order bonus watch thread, I think that'd be useful for a lot of us considering how scattered these things are becoming. Like, Hyrule Warriors is about to come out and the bonus costumes for Link and Zelda change with each retailer. Obviously I'll contribute, but I'm too lazy to create anything right now. Don't bother creating like, a database in the OP or anything, that'd take far too much work I reckon.

You're really reaching with that reference man, besides, God Eater's been doing IT'S ALSO A GUN shit before RWBY started (about 3 years earlier.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ar_Nosurge#Ar_nosurge_Plus hahaha f*** off Japan, seriously. Well, that definitely makes me feel better, but it also makes me feel worse about missing Fairy Fencer F because a Vita version of it has not been announced.

I know what you're asking for is a Vita port, but there's a PS4 sequel to Fairy Fencer F announced that apparently has "part" of the original game in it. Not sure what they mean by that, but anyway yeah that's a thing.

Yeah, that article is what made me search for Ar Nosurge Plus. I don't get why they're including "part" of the game when these Japanese games aren't really pushing the existing consoles very hard, there's no reason why Advent Dark Force couldn't include the original too. I mean it's not like I'm expecting much from Akiba's Strip on the PS4, but I'm infinitely more grateful for Acquire than Ideafactory right now.

Also, there's a God Eater anime in the works by ufotable. PLEASE LET IT BE A GOOD ADAPTATION!

New DLC archfiend for Soul Sacrifice Delta, Marduk from God Eater 2. Defeating him three times nets you the Fenrir outfits (from the Bazaar). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUWS6RxNiD4
"Let's not forget, when we developed the Final Fantasy 13 series, all three titles, at the early stages of development we were working on PC," Kitase told Eurogamer. "Then we had to port it to the consoles. As far as the technology is concerned, it would have been possible for us to make a PC version, but we decided against it for two reasons: We looked at the market situation and we didn't think it would be a good idea, and also it would have involved lots of complex issues like security. So we decided not to do it this time around."
Now that the first game is on Steam, its only a matter of time before the other two games show up as well.
EDIT: Yes, they are all coming to Steam.

finally we get to see Chie in action, and now Yosuke and Kanji are in it, but it's also been delayed to 2015.
Also I completely didn't realize that the game was being developed by Sega, but I'm not concerned because with titles like Rhythm Thief and the Miku rhythm games, Sega's the top dog of the music game genre ever since DDR and Rock Band gave up the ghost. (Not that I can speak for Japanese/arcade games.) My purchase was already guaranteed but if it wasn't, this would've done the trick.
