| How did the Legend of Heroes series begin?
Welcome to the general thread of the glorious Eiyuu Densetsu aka The Legend of Heroes series. Here we aka only me and DylDogue may discuss all things related to the Legend of Heroes series with our intense discussions, heated debates, analytic speculations, and most importantly, our beloved Falcom waifus. As a bit of background, Falcom first hit it big as a company with a little game for the PC-88 called Dragon Slayer. The Legend of Heroes began its life as one of the entries in the franchise and like several others has been spun off into its own series. The following are current LOH titles in the series: List of The Legend of Heroes Series: Iselhasa SagaDragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes IIGagharv Trilogyad The Legend of Heroes III: The White Witch The Legend of Heroes IV: A Tear of Vermillion The Legend of Heroes V: Cagesong of the OceanThe Kiseki SeriesThe Legend of Heroes VI: Sora no Kiseki First Chapter The Legend of Heroes VI: Sora no Kiseki Second Chapter The Legend of Heroes VI: Sora no Kiseki The 3rd The Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki The Legend of Heroes: Ao no Kiseki The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki II SpinoffsYs vs. Sora no Kiseki: Alternative Saga Nayuta no KisekiEvolution Series (remasters of the Kiseki series)The Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki Evolution The Legend of Heroes: Ao no Kiseki Evolution The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC Evolution
As noted, the LoH series began as the sixth entry in the Dragon Slayer franchise. Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes was released for the PC-88 and ported to a number of other platforms including the SNES and the PC Engine (aka Turbo Grafx/Duo). In the latter capacity the game actually got an official release in English, albeit with names changed. The second game still bore the Dragon Slayer name and got similar ports to many systems but has never been officially released in English or fan-translated. Collectively the first two LoH games are known as the Iselhasa Saga and are connected to each other but unconnected to any other Legend of Heroes game. As for Nayuta no Kiseki, it is not a part of the mainline Kiseki series, which is part of the reason that it doesn't have 'Legend of Heroes' anywhere in its title. In interviews, Falcom staff have admitted that the Kiseki name is mostly for brand recognition. There are some terms shared with the mainstream Kiseki games (units of measurement, Mira for money, Arts for magic) but you could replace them with different terms and nobody would notice the difference.

| This series will never get the full love and attention it deserves from publishers because XSEED localized the first Trails in the Sky much too late in the PSP's life cycle thus dooming it and allowing us to get even further behind in the series compared to Japan. Note I'm not actually blaming XSEED. If anyone's to blame it's Namco Bandai for not continuing past the Gagharv trilogy.
It gets some love, but it may be too little too late. Even if we manage to make it to ZnK, XSEED would have to get there before the Vita goes the way of the Dodo - and the Vita is already struggling, mostly because publishers won't release games for it. Nobody has a Vita because there are no games for it, therefore we shall make no games for it. God I hate how this industry works.

| But X Seed was the only publisher to have the guts, blood, sweat, tears, and bacon to translate the whole script of FC. And Carpe Fulgur has more of that cause of SC. Namco is the one that fudge up and made the Gagharv trilogy bad than what iter should really be.
They had a strong following with the Ys games on Steam....so if marketed right, maybe at least the story of Estelle and Joshua could get its love there?

| Yeah.
Sadly the PS3 versions aren't getting the localization treatment, so we have a choice to make. More content and portable but on a tiny screen, or... less content but in HD. The PS3 versions are the best of both worlds: all the extra PSP content in glorious HD. But we don't get that option.
Now if Falcom were to port all the PSP content over to the PC version for this, that would be amazing, but I don't see that happening.

| Chronicles+ had some additions added to it by XSeed's in-house programmer. If she can do her magic for SC, then by golly geez, the Steam version will be the best. However, I am thinking that the addition of two playable characters isn't that simple to code by a non-Falcom programmer.
But I guess for me, I prefer playing these game in a handheld, and am grateful for XSeed that they're even putting this on PSN.
This is one of the best character driven story/game that I have ever played, and I just wish that everyone would at least try it once.

| Oh wow Tenshi is posting, thought this thread would be dead loooool
Anyways yeah while I do agree that it may be a bit late for the series, I'd be fine with just SC albeit I'll be really sad if it ends just there and I do plan to double dip on PSN and Steam! :3
It's cool that we are getting FC + SC on Steam though, but yeah there's no hope for the PS3 Kai versions.

| I think they did say the PS3 Kai versions were at least "being considered" or some such, but if they do decide to release the Kai versions it'd be at a later date obviously.
And yes, of course I'm posting in this topic. I love TitS - and a lot of Falcom games in general, though I've yet to play Ys despite buying them on steam last summer.

| Everyone loves TitS! 3rd won't be coming anytime soon, same can be said about Zero and Ao Evo. IF the PS3 Kais ever come then, as you said, it won't be for a while. The thing is, the rate of localization is extremely slow, but no one's to blame I guess.
Still hoping for an exact release date for SC soon.
Play those Ys games already.

| I'm interested in the steam releases, at least. It's kind of intimidating how many games there are in the series though. I've heard all of the chapters are kind of interconnected with each other, but there's like what, just a few of them released in English? And how long would tracking on of those down take. | |

| I have my wallet ready to be pleasured by FC+SC when they arrive at Gaben territory. I don't know if I will hold up that longer, as my state is the equivalent of a hoe without being able to get crucified in years.
Despite not having played The Kiseki series due of waiting their PC-intended releases on Steam, I went through ZeroEvo and AoPSP demos anyway, to get a grasp of what I'm getting to. I managed to understand some of it!... except the plot as it doesn't make sense if you don't play the TITS trilogy first.
I fell in love with EVERYTHING I saw, played and listened. And I'm not fearful to admit JDK are the best BGM composers I've listened in my entire life, beating everything Squaresoft offered back then (Them Azure Arbitrator, Enormous Inner Strenght, Atrocious Raid, The Glint of Cold Steel, Intense Chase psp ver, Skies of a Strange Land, The Merciless Saviour, Silver Will, Sand Castle Zanmai ver, Legend of the Five Great Dragons, Palace of Reticent Lava, Termination all vers, Afernoon in Crossbell both ver, Scars of the Divine Wing, Zwei's Demon Vespers's Theme, The Strongest Foe, Ruined City Kishgal both vers... to name a few). And I'm a pretty devoted BGM listener If not the only genre I tie my ears at. Being honest here.
I'm really really glad to be embraced by this Falcom goodness. And you guys are outstandingly amazing.

| Speaking of which I'd like to hear the official release of SC soon...... inb4 delayed to Winter. Kiseki plot about politics and complicated text makes it hard to comprehend. Yeah JDK really does deliver with amazing tracks, gonna add Hollow Light of the Sealed Land, Get over the Barrier! and Inevitable Struggle in there too as some of my favorite BGM tracks. Friend of mine dislikes the rock theme they have in their tracks which makes me sad, but screw his opinion. Found this quote somewhere and: - Quote :
- You forgot that heavenly piece of OST. It's actually the very best the BGM industry has to offer as of this and previous generations.
JDK just beat the hell out of what Squaresoft offered back then. Coincidence? xD Seriously, I am SO PUMPED for Sen II, seriously, I haven't been this giddy in excitement for a game in a while. It just kinda makes me sad that SC is possibly the last game we might get in English, realistically depending on sales. WHO'S DOUBLE DIPPING FOR FC+SC!? - NexeorF wrote:

If only DylDoge posted more..... I feel so flattered.....! Also they got Sugita to voice Tovar...... sweetness.

| Sugita in Trails? (VA jokes) Also, I sometimes prefer the violin than the rock in some of the JDK tracks, and when they belt out the jazz, holy Aidos, it's just pure bliss. | |

Looks like I'm not safe in Gematsu anymore. When you achieve a certain patron of communication and it's easily recognizable by others, you know time has not been wasted; the other way around actually--you have created your official self! Yes, that's me. Good job D: Falcom's awesome music should be spread worldwide, and I'm not planning on quitting. And your friend are the likes of listening Meguro's Raunchy rock or FFXIII's wubwubwub. Be grateful to have opened thy eyes. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Been investigating all about the series, and I can clearly see Kiseki it's not for everyone. Barely people notice it . The more more I read, the more more I want to play them. Regarding its heavy-texted scripts--I'm making my way on Kanjis and enhancing my weeb skills. I think Kiseki together with Sega's Uta Kumi 575 are of great help. And of course I'm planning on getting the first Eiyuu Densetsu games. Just you wait. Though I believe Bamco messed up the translations? (You clearly state it on the first page). But, additionally, I read they are numbered incorrectly or something?. - DylDawg wrote:

YES Their jazz themes are sexy overload. You know an OST is good when it can stand by itself AS WELL AS blooming life to the game, a thing that the majority of JRPGs lack.

| No one's safe from me. I am the ultimate creeper.LoH is a niche WITHIN a niche in the stateside, so it's really obscure to the West, but it's nice to find others who can appreciate the series. It's a shame progress is really slow but you can't really help that. The Gagharv trilogy is really good despite the somewhat sloppy translation and release ordering, we had a diehard Gagharv in the forums though she's not in Reservia The ordering goes AToV>PotMW>SotO iirc Also dat sig xD | |
