Trailer and complete scans have me super pumped. I can't wait to see what's in store now, I have high hopes! Also the amount of scream for Artorius though....I want to watch the trailer and pick out details but I also want to study for my finals LOL
I do want to say evil(?) holy butterfly mask woman's design, at least the dress part, is super nice. Reminds me of evil butterfly girl from the first Radiant Mythology who was actually a pretty okay character that's been lost to obscurity. I wonder if she was drawn by the RM artist. (I forget if that's Iwamoto or Okumura)
Subbed trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhPzlLkwBic !! Artorius Calabrand, so he is the Saviour Velvet hates! I so excited to get some answers about Zestiria's lore. I love it, I just felt worldbuilding was a bit held back by keeping so many things obscure and lost, this should be so refreshing!
The characters look like they have some pretty great chemistry too, judging from the subs! Ahhh I'm so glad

Some people say it's Lailah or rather her new voice actress. Does anybody know if the second part is true? After all, it could be her, I guess?

I've been listening to Zestiria's soundtrack again and the theme for Artorius' Throne is called "Throne of the God Who Caused Everything" or "Throne of the Divine Mastermind".

That is interesting and creepy. IIRC, didn't the short summary of that place, when you choose it from the map, have someting interesting to say, too?

Well, here's my theory:
Artorius: First Shepherd --- but he's also the one responsible for unleashing Malevolence upon the world. By being the "only" one who can purify Malevolence, it makes him easily one of the most important person of the world. A king/person who possesses ultimate power can "easily" rally people behind him (through fear or admiration, depending on how you look at him).
Naturally, the final Arc of ToB will likely take place in his Throne where the "curse" was created/made possible.

I like this theory but I don't think he created the Malevolence. What if he really rescued the world but got corrupted later on? Didn't he (if it was his voice during the second(?) trailer) say he is sorry about this to Velvet? Well, whoever it was, is, at least, part of the problem.

Yeah I agree, I do feel like he did some real bad stuff, but it all may not have been intentional...at first. I feel like he did something great but at a giant nefarious cost he hides because people praise him for it and it spawned this whole big thing based on ignorance and falling at his feet. Then it took a life of its own and spun out of control with the power it wields with its name and thus we have the Abbey.
I really hope we find out exactly how Seraph are made when they aren't
Spoiler:
reincarnated humans
and how Seraph can be siblings in the first place if not created by the that method.....I also want to know how blessings came to be, and why they are even effective...and also how people worshipping them even helps. There's so much in Zesitiria you just need to take at face value, I want to know more

Malak just seem to be a normal but magical race. Maybe their ability to give "blessings" is just some form of their magic powers. Just like Rita learned to usa Mana instead of Aer.
I am more interested in these arenas we saw during Sorey's journey. They seem to be quite old.

Throw me in this camp of thinking she's a younger Lailah. The constant dodging of questions in Zestiria is totally leading into this game.
On a side note, this game is shaping up excellently. It even looks like the occasionally wonky camera in some Zestiria combat situation might have been fixed, but it's hard to tell from just advertising screens.

Massive Tales of Zestiria Spoilers, so don't check if you haven't played it (and care about spoilers from that game) ToZ made a couple of possible reference/link for ToB:
-Red Moon being bad (NPC) -Edna's brother (Eizen) -Artorius Throne as the final dungeon (Artorius is the name of possibly the first Shepherd or someone who unleashed Malevolence)
I probably missed some others.
I'm very curious to see if Zaveid's gun will make an appearance or not. I'm curious about that mysterious Lady in the trailer (ToB)... I wonder if it's Lailah.
Do you think it will be important? A monster that turns things into black crystal is very much a Hellion.

There's also this which I noticed myself in Zestiria, though the screenshot is credit to CutePresea. Spoiler I guess so hover your mouse over it to see.

At least, I guess, it will be important.

Is there any confirmation this game is coming to the PS3 in the states? My fear is that it will only be released on the PS4 here like Dragon Quest Heroes. I am really excited for this game.

The crucibles were made by
Spoiler:
Kittybeard
I thought?
and I do think Alisha's armor might make a cameo with regards to the monster that made it in this! I'm also expecting allusions to Zaveid and/or a young Dezel's mentor if there are lots of people around who ran with Aizen, it is possible he met them after the events of this game though.
I'm super excited for this summer now, I'm contemplating how spoiled I want to get with this game. I got pretty spoiled with Zestiria, just not the nitty gritty details and a look at any of the locations, and I still got a pretty full experience with it.

(Spoilers for ToZ)
So, I was checking other stuff from ToZ and here's a dialogue before you enter the mountain (Rayfalke Spiritcrest):
Old man: Tell me, do you know the Legend of the Eight Serpents?
Alisha: That's the legend found in every culture of the eight dragons who betrayed the seraphim and were banished to the underworld.
Old man: Our tales tell that one of those dragons still remains in Rayfalke Spiritcrest.
(...)
Sorey: It'll be fine. Lailah's never heard of that legend either.
... ... ...
Lailah (when they encounter that Dragon): This is all my fault. I was going off my memories and just assumed that any talk of dragons was baseless.
Sorey: So you mean this dragon a recent addition to the mountain?
... ... ...
"Recent" addition to the mountain... Man, how old is Lailah anyway? Lailah was alive long before the events of ToB and have met Edna, IMO. Eizen left Edna to go on a journey (it was mentioned when you do the sidequest). During that journey, he became a Dragon and that Dragon returned to the mountain at some point. Lailah and Edna haven't seen each other ever since Eizen became a Dragon... which could be hundred of years, if not thousand (as mentioned by Edna, when you kill her brother. She kept on to the "hope" that her brother would return to who he was for hundred of years).
"Eight Serpent"...
Here's the list of all the "potential" party members we have so far: *Velvet *Laphicet *Rokurou *Eleanor *Magileux *Eizen is one of them (dragons). *In the "third" trailer, we saw 3 member (from Eizen's "pirate ship")
We saw that Eizen's crew were hellions (Lizardman in the 2nd trailer I think). Maybe all his crew became dragon, which would mean 4 dragons. Velvet might become one. Rokurou might become one as well, as he seems rather "corrupted".
Maybe everyone will become Dragons except Laphicet?

There's off-screen gameplay!
Observing it I notice a few things. The battles are not entirely 'seamless' there appears to be even more transition that Zestiria had. I personally like it.
The menu also shows a chef hat, implying the traditional cooking system has returned.
The menu also has a "fashion" icon, implying that costumes have a larger role again. Hopefully a larger role in game this time.
EDIT: Previous video was set private so here is another.

Seamless battles are overrated. I love dedicated battlefield more.
Movement and camera doesn't feel constricting, but from the looks of it, it seems like side/back/front-stepping is not in this game? The video is all 'free run all day every day'.
Sad to see the only fun system of Graces/Zestiria go, but if it opens up a more dynamic boss battle (like you have to actively dodge stuff now), it's cool with me.

New Producer does seem nice! I love the look of the new menu and how it pops up! I'm actually kind of excited if we're getting classical cooking back and I love that the new producer is looking to bring classic things back too!
Here's hoping titles are handled better than X/2, though Zesitiria did bring them back into both usefulness and plot significance, as well as being per character again. I do hope we get more for events in the game again though, that we can actually look back on (once a title is upgraded in Zestiria the old name and explanation are just poof).
I wonder what the boat icon in the menu is for?
I know most everyone already accepted it, but this does look like the full final party, not much room in that menu for any other characters. I don't mind I'm used to 6 being the new normal number, despite my personal preference for ~8.

We know that we cannot sail the ship, therefore it cannot be an upgrade menü. I guess, we will be able to click and pick some points on the map, a bit like Graces. Or it is just the "story log" icon this time around?

Seven/Celceta flash move/dodging pls Namco
Battles still take place on the location you are in the map, so I guess the transition is just to help for better performance on battle mode.
I just realized, with the info we currently have now, battles would feel more button-mashy cause there are no (so far) directional input + face button artes. They'd have to make battles more challenging to remove the monotony.

You can mix up the attack with four face button though, so while it is technically still button mashing, it's not figuratively button mashing? Because you mash four buttons instead of one? f***, what is the definition of button mashing anyway?
Also I watched the off-screen gameplay video and saw that some Artes are highlighted yellow in certain sequence and not in the other, so I guess it's the combo sequence mentioned before? It would be awesome if it is really compound Arte as speculated before (like Demon Fang followed by Void Tempest became Demonic Void or something).
Anyway, I really like that each character has their own personal gameplay quirk, like Velvet has some "devour monster get new arte" thing or Eizen's "dragon form when enemy is stunned". Break Soul was it? It gives individuality to each characters playstyle at least.
And yeah, I'm kinda thinking about flash dodge really, because if there's no dodge maneuver whatsoever (because all face button are used), game will be very dumb. I'd also like to see creative bosses, like having to destroy arms before boss core is revealed. It wasn't feasible for previous Tales because of the camera and movement system, but since this one is freer, it just might happen.
Though if the movement and camera is freer to begin with, why even have battlefield though? Go full action man.
